Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The camber is adjusted by moving the spring strut transversely.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust by moving the spring strut transversely' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust by moving the spring strut transversely' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Suggestion
If it needs to be adjusted like in case of an accident you need to buy some motorsport part to set the caster.

Suggestion
You will definitely want to check the caster as it changes when you change the camber depending on how much you change it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm sure this has been beaten to death but what seems to be the consensus on time or $$ for the installation of the following on a 99 C2?
-Litronics
-B&M shortsifter
-Fabspeed Exhaust w/ tips
I think I might have issues with the shop.
Thanks!
-Thomas
Litronics -- 1.5 hours
B&M shortsifter -- 1 hour
Fabspeed Exhaust -- 1 hour
These are actual times -- I've done them all.
Hourly rates vary... but now you can shop.
This morning I was quoted $240 (2 hours) for the B&M shifter. I was also quoted roughly $1100 for Euro Row suspension install (which includes $295 for alignment).
i find it very strange why dealer mechanics are so slow. loren helped me with my B&M, i am totally mehcanically inept and with me and loren and several other rennlisters chatting away, we got my B&M installed in less than one hour...
Hey Loren, Can you email me the instructions for the B&M. I'm debating if I should try and do it myself or pay an independant shop in my area $150.00 to do it. Thanks!

Chicago996,
The B&M install is too high (IMHO). Perhaps they have never done one before?
Take the deal on the RoW install and alignment -- that's a good deal. I assume they have a good reputation?
I installed the litronics this weekend. It took me about 3 hours, but there was a problem with one of the lights. The height would not adjust, so I needed to take it a part and to snap something back in place. Mufflers took me about an hour too. No short shift kit here.
I actually think $1,100 is high for a M030 installation. Only the toe and camber need to be adjusted. The rest is just bolt in. If they had to corner balance it then maybe, since that does take some time. It took me about 5 hours to do this on my car.
Uh, I don't know about that. You will definitely want to check the caster as it changes when you change the camber depending on how much you change it.
Loren, Yaah I figured he was a bit too high with the B&M and they do them all the time. But they do jack up the prices for parts big time. He said I could get Row suspension for about $2000. I told him Carnewal.com can get the same thing to me for $1300. They have a good reputation but I think I want to find an independent specialist for any mods. The oil change this morning was quoted at $90 but when I got the bill it was $128 of which $45 was materials. The other roughly $85 was for "labor".
SPR I don't think you can change the caster on a 996. If it needs to be adjusted like in case of an accident you need to buy some motorsport part to set the caster. I have not looked at this in a long time though so I may be wrong.
Bill - Chicago is correct. From the Service Manual:
"Rear axle: The kinematic toe-in is not adjustable. Camber and toe can be adjusted via eccentrics.
Front Axle: The caster is not adjustable on standard vehicles. In the event of repairs, a caster adjustment facility can be installed if necessary (as with the Boxster). The camber is adjusted by moving the spring strut transversely. For this purpose, loosen the three fastening nuts of the spring-strut mount."

If I may ask, which dealer are you talking to? I am also considering the B&M short shift and haven't had a chance to inquire as to install price. To date I have had my service and mods performed at Napleton, but I have learned to lean on them when they quote me prices. Generally, they are competitive, but awareness is key.
