Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was reading through the Boxster forum and found the thread on this topic interesting. I know my wife gets plenty of waves from various motorists in her Boxster. . .but from what she tells me, these are mostly guys who I suspect want to get in her pants. I'm not sure I posted this experience yet, but I was on my way to O'Hare for an early morning flight. I was in the left lane and slowed down so a dude in his white 996 C4S could pull alongside me. He kinda just glared at me and then cut me off. Not cool. Figures, who would get a white C4S?!! My experience has been that more non-Porsche drivers in competing marques wave or flash. This is from Corvettes to a 360 Spyder that waved yesterday. It's like they're saying, "I thought about that car but went this way instead." Well, probably not the guy in the 360, anyway!

POST 2Original post

Often times I get a wave when I pass another Porsche or they flash me the high beams. Not so much with competing marques

POST 3Original post

Too many Porsches down here to wave at, I would get a great workout though!!

POST 4Original post

In New York, Porsches are the Buick of the Hamptons, so no real waves. However, when I'm out in my 1963 356B cab I get a lot of waves from Porsche drivers and other vintage cars.

POST 5Original post

Wasn't me! But mine's Seal Gray. I've had similar experiences in Chicago with owners of the other Porsche's steadfastly refusing to acknowledge another Porsche owner. Others though flash lights and waive. Thought I saw yours yesterday evening on Rush turning onto Oak at around 6 pm. Could that be?

I don't have one yet, close to ordering and have been thinking of getting it in white. To me it looks gorgeous. What is wrong with white?

POST 7Original post

I understand Corvette people have a "Corvette wave". Why coudn't we have the same thing? I don't no, call it naivety but I think it would be cool. I know that when my C4S comes in (next week!!) I'll probably be waving at everyone...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Flying Toaster, "good guys wear white" as do cars. With that fine *** in back and huge gaping intakes in front, a C4S needs to be BAAAAD! Get a darker color! Just kidding. This car in any color is fantastic. I'm sure whatever decision you make will be the right one for you. Le Chef, that was not me. Ahhhh, but another of our brood lurks! Mine has Gemballa Competitions rather than the stock wheels. That's really the only visible exterior distinction. Plus I was in a meeting during the evening and barely got home in time to catch 24!

Sometimes it's just a slight nod of the head or a slight raising of the fingers off of the steering wheel. My wife always makes fun of me when it happens :-) There does seem to be a pecking order though. Carrera owners seem to do the wave to each other regardless of whether it's a 996, 993, Cab, Turbo, etc. But the Carrera and Boxsters owners don't seem to acknowledge each other. At least I've never been waved at by a Boxster.
