Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reading of the RMS/IMS threat was a bit mind boggling prior to purchase of a used 996 but this one runs well w/ a clean filter so hopefully it's a good one.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This yr is our 50th anniversary so we thought while we can still enjoy another Porsche we'd go for one--a 2001 Carrera C4 w/ 83k, blk on blk. Shortly after our 1964 marriage, we enjoyed a 62 356B normal coupe until it became too stiff riding for wifes 1st of 3 pregnancys.
Reading of the RMS/IMS threat was a bit mind boggling prior to purchase of a used 996 but this one runs well w/ a clean filter so hopefully it's a good one. Replaced the spark plug tubes which seems to have corrected the oil leaks . Also want to mention I have several street rods insured thru Hagerty whereby they agreed to insure this C4 which saves a bundle of $ .
Look forward to continued education from this great site .
Welcome and congratulations on purchase and your anniversary

Here is my staggerwing--an 84 Hiperlight ultralight I completely restored down to the bare airframe. I painted it 98 Chrysler deep cranberry pearl single stage urethane. Power was a Rotax 447 w/ a 60 MPH cruise @ 2 GPH ,& employed flaperons --a boon to my 600 ft dedicated (take off down--land up) backyard strip. From approx. 26 yrs building & flying ultralights, this was by far the nicest , best designed UL I owned.
Here's a scanned pic of the 356 I resurrected from an old album--it wasn't fast but oh what a pleasure to drive !
Here's a 60's Porsche story you might appreciate.
A friend told me of an early 50's coupe for sale who's owner had put so much money in it his wife came down w/ the hammer ultimatum---"it goes or you go ".
Looking like it was severely chopped from the factory, I was told it was nicknamed at the time, "the claustrophobia coupe" by owners.
It had the very rare needle bearing engine (just rebuilt by a local dealer) and needed basically some slight body work & paint.
I told him I would take it for the $600 & tried to offer a binder to hold it as the next day I was leaving for my 2 week stint w/ the Army reserve but he said no worry , it'll be here & didn't want the down payment.
Well, as you might detect by now, it was sold to the local Porsche dealer who put the motor in another car & supposedly won the race in its class at Watkins Glen that year-------END OF STORY
If any volunteers would like the current pics I have of our 996 Carrera to make applicable/resize to down load here, I would try to send them to you as my ability to do it is zip.
Thks
