After finding out that there are issues with electronics I will be looking for a good set of used 996 seat and just plug and play.

The local shop I use charged $750.00 to do this pair of Scheels for the e30 back in 2012.

Has anyone installed Recaro seats in their 996? Please tell me the model/color/fabric and your experiences with these in terms of installation and satisfaction. I will be replacing mine with the expert model. After pricing reupholstering a Recaro is less expensive. Savanna is my interior color but will use black if necessary.

thank you all for your input. In light of electronic issues and finding more local sources for reupholstery, I have decided to not add Recaro’s and try to keep it simple.
I attempted to install a Recaro SPG XL into my 996.1 Coupe using Brey Krause side mounts and floor adaptors, deleting the tracks. I could not get the seat back as far as the factory seat would travel. and I felt like I was sitting higher than the factory seat but i was also wayy to cramped to drive the car so I did not. FWIW i'm 6'6".
Are you looking for an adjustable seat? Are you looking to make more space? Or just replace worn seat fabric?

I am trying to put Expert seats in my 2003 996. They are wider than the stock seat and won't fit. Bought the adapter kit specifically for 996's. Had them modified for width because the adapters wouldn't fit the seat belt.
I've fought with them for more than a month. Bought tools, modified tools trying to make them work. These seats really don't fit. I'm really over it.
The main problem with Recaro (and I assume other aftermarket) seats in a 996 is width at the back of the base. There is a reason even the most basic 996 seats have electric seatback angle adjustment. Modifications can be made to the car if one is determined to go with them.
I just put Pole Position in my 996 last month. I went with CMS mounts with Recaro sliders because it allowed me to offset the centerline of the seats away from the center console to have space for the factory buckles.
I did it all myself. I�m not sure if seats without side mounts would allow for the offset from center like I was able to do though. If your car has the passenger child seat plug option then you will have to wire a resistor into the plug for eliminating the airbag fault. Or find a way to code it out with software.
They are the narrower FIA Pole Positions. I�m a little guy, so they fit perfectly I think.
