Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for a Chicago welder / exhaust shop able to do the PSE / Fister hack to my aftermarket titanium exhaust? Looks like the welder needs to be TIG capable +/- argon vacuum? My local shop, Midwest Eurosport supposedly can do TIG welding, but they're not confident they can do the job? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Honestly - it sounds like your shop doesn't want to do the work, not that they can't. TIG welding is a slow process (compared to MIG or stick) and necessary to work on Titanium. Oh yeah, TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas. Argon happens to be the inert gas in this case, so don't let any shop tell you the argon part is unique to your mufflers.

POST 3Original post

You should thank their honest opinion. Welding takes a bunch of practice and titanium is pricey to practice upon. I bet you wouldn't like the results if they attempted it.

Yes. JIC full titanium exhaust and weighs only 11 lbs total for both sides. Ive never seen another titanium exhaust for the 996 C2. Love the weight. Just wish it were louder.

POST 6Original post

Check with Stance/Togue factory in wheeling. Ask for Eric Wortman and tell him Alex Talbot sent you. They so amazing work!
