I installed my DAS bar with only the passenger seat removed and it was no problem.

Due to a bit of overspray I need to use a rubber mallet to persuade it to go together in a few spots.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had one before I got the bar and it worked great with the stock seats.
Anyone done this lately?.....I've heard it's not bad, a couple hour job?
Front seats have to be removed for install?
How seriously does bar limet rearward seat travel?
Thanks in advance
Yes, it's a DIY job. You have to fold down or remove the rear seats, remove the carpet piece that covers the rear shock towers, and bolt the rear cross member to the 3 bolts on each shock tower. For the hoop, you need to remove the 3-point bolts in the lower frame area behind the front seats to bolt in the front hoop. The front hoop and rear cross-member slide together and then are bolted. I removed both front seats which is a matter of 4 torx head bolts and a couple of electrical connectors underneath.
It probably is a couple hour job but I would allow a Saturday morning or afternoon for the first time, just so you don't have to rush. I had GT3 seats in my car and the DAS bar did not limit the rearward travel of them at all.
Karl
One more thing, the one thing that is not DIY is the welding of the harness guides to the bar. I think DAS gives you the option of having them weld them on before they send the bar or they will send them loose and you can weld them to exactly match your seat. Since you have stock seats, just ask DAS to weld the guide bars in position for the stock seats.
Also the bar comes unfinished. You can spray paint it or you can find someone local who can powder coat it for you for a little more durability and resistance to scratching and peeling.

I had mine powdercoated. About $100 here in Norcal.
It does limit the rearward seat travel on the stock seats.
I have long legs and noticed the difference. Probably at least three inches. The lower part of the seat contacts the bottom of the bar near the door sill.
As mentioned, GT3 seats solve that problem.
Due to a bit of overspray I need to use a rubber mallet to persuade it to go together in a few spots. The upside to this is that my bar has been silent. No creaks whatsoever.
Thanks guys.
I'll now add now a partial answer to my own question.
I researched & was able top get the phone number for the manufacturer of the DAS.
They actually do not recomend it for use w/full leather OE seats....limets about 4"s of travel.
They say...both front seats out for either install or removal.
I'm SOL cause that was pretty much my requirement.....either not a real big job to remove between track weekends.......or, not seriously affecting my daily room & leaving it always (I'm 6'2" and need the room for regular driving)
Gregg,
Buy the GT3 seats!
I installed my DAS bar with only the passenger seat removed and it was no problem. In and out isn't as much work as the initial install, because you can leave the lower plates installed to the lower seat belt attachment points, making the job remove 1 seat, ten bolts and the bar is out.
I upgraded to the GT3 seats after I experienced the loss of leg room with the stock seats.
If your stock seats aren't electric, you might not lose the travel. (Is there a such thing as seats that aren't electric?)
Patrick...thanks for encouragement.
However....I have full power w/heat,lumbar, yada,yada.
I live here in the arctic climb in the car at 6:30 in the A.M. with not a great back. Also, I do drive the car some distances at times...she is my daily driver ....so comfort is important....enough said?
I was just trying to make her a tad safer for the track.

Though I have not spent significant time in mine, I'd have to agree that they are surprisingly comfortable. One of my friends thinks they are more comfortable than the old stock seats. I haven't decided yet.

I had one before I got the bar and it worked great with the stock seats. I took it out between DEs and after doing it a few times, it was only a 15 minute job. It is also a simple bolt in and while I would recommend taking out the passenger seat the first time, you can do it without that step subsequently. No roll protection but the belts will add some safety and also anchor you better in the stock seats.
Karl
At great expense, I bought the stock hardware. I'm working on a post to explain it all, I'll post it shortly. Others have done this at a much lower cost, and I understand with good results as well. My project turned out perfect, though pricey.
