try doing that now and disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and then do the factory reset confirming that the GPS sensor is properly connected (it should give a readout on the configuration screen of the PCCM).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am installing a PCCM Plus in my 2003 996 turbo. It has been a huge effort. The hurdle I am facing now is that I continually get the message "Traffic Safety, for safety reasons, some functions are only available when the vehicle is stationary." Then I am prompted to push "Hide". This occurs when navigating in the settings menu. It's as if my radio thinks it's moving when it's not. Does anyone know how to fix this or have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I saw in another thread that there are accelerometers inside that may cause the message. Still, they shouldn't do that when t he unit is still. Also, I saw a concern with software. I will try to see if mine needs an update. It sucks that there are no instructions and no support.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since I can't figure out how to get rid of the annoying traffic safety alerts which make it impossible to access settings, I may just buy a non-porsche 2 DIN radio. Any recommendations for units that look nice in a Porsche?

POST 4Original post

>>It sucks that there are no instructions and no support.<< Is this for the unit from Porsche or one of the knock-offs from Alibaba or wherever?

This is almost certainly a defective/stuck accelerometer in the PCCM+. The thread below outlines a few who had same issue and solution was to return the unit and go with something else or ask for replacement hoping it functions properly. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...problem-3.html

I concur. . . .I get those messages while driving but stopped I can access any menu. I would go for warranty repair

POST 7Original post

I have a very similar issue, but I'm thinking mine might be software related. When the car is started in the morning the PCCM correctly realizes it's stationary and I can use it just fine. Only once I get moving does the unit lock me out even if I come to a stop again. Because the unit always thinks I'm in motion at that point I can't input a destination into Apple Maps either. 😡

POST 8Original post

This is one big reason why so many Porsche owners are buying the PCCM clones. They get the same OEM PCM look, but with wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, backup camera, etc... all for less than $300 and, it doesn't have the stupid motion alert error. My advice is if you don't like the PCCM clones or deal with the OEM PCCM+, then purchase a good double DIN unit from Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer or Sony.

POST 9Original post

I have the Porsche unit in my 2004 C4S Cab and I have had no issues at all. I just hooks up to my phone on off we go. I DON'T have the map SSD installed. Do you all have the Map SSD by chance?

POST 10Original post

This is often caused by doing the install without disconnecting the battery. try doing that now and disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and then do the factory reset confirming that the GPS sensor is properly connected (it should give a readout on the configuration screen of the PCCM). hopefully that sorts it.

All my cars are old so I never knew these 'Safety' notices were a thing until I was issued a new company vehicle in 2019. Almost immediately after taking possession, I got my first safety notice. I guess GM doesn't see the humor in a message about taking your eyes off the road that requires you to take your eyes off the road to clear.
