Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am not too concerned with the IMS issue, Its almost at 100k now and there are no leaks and there was nothing in the filter when I changed the oil.

And I agree that a well maintained vehicle driven 5-10k a year will serve you better in the long run than a trailer queen.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Been lurking for a few years now and finally bit the bullet last month and sold my M3 to buy a 911. I found myself a perfect '03 Carrera 4S with 97k. I was looking for a car with higher mileage and maintenance because to me that's more important. There is also the fact that I plan on driving this thing every day!
The car is from San Diego and I am in NY so I had my Dad (a high end transporter who does Barrett Jackson, Pebble Beach etc.) pick it up for me and deliver it to St. Louis where he lives. I hopped on a jet and drove the beast back 1000 miles to home just south of Albany.
The drive went perfectly, no issues whatsoever. This is by far the bast way to buy a 911 IMO. Any problems would manifest on a long drive so hey!
Anyway love this car and I am looking forward to Porsche ownership!
(Sorry for the crap Instagram shots but I haven't had a chance for real photos)
On the way home at a hotel at 3am:
Bit of snow here...driving anyway!
Keep it clean!
Welcome to the club! I don't drive mine in winter, due to extra wide summer tires, and desire to keep it cleaner. What factory options does it have? Perhaps PSE by looks of tailpipes. And if you don't mind telling what you paid, I did a study awhile ago on here to show pricing by year and by mileage. Higher mile cars like yours and mine are turning out to be more reliable in the IMSB department! Will you invest in winter tires?

PSE, Nav, all leather, bose, the usual suspects. I paid $22k for it...I am in the car biz and have connections though.
No snow tires yet but I am definitely going to get some...for now i take it easy haha.
Very nice !-----I also just bought an 01 C4 w/ 83k (paid 19k)---maybe comparatively thinking a higher mile 996 that checks out well may have evaded its susceptibility to the RMS/IMS virus while maturing.
Can't say I'm going to drive mine in this weather though.

Thanks dudes! I am not too concerned with the IMS issue, Its almost at 100k now and there are no leaks and there was nothing in the filter when I changed the oil. I am going to adress the IMS when I do the clutch/RMS/AOS probably next year just for preventive measures.
I like that drive it and maintain it attitude. And I agree that a well maintained vehicle driven 5-10k a year will serve you better in the long run than a trailer queen. Life is short drive it, enjoy it.
Congrats ! You will love this car more each day than the day before.
I've a 03 C4S as well. Black/Black, the PSE is intoxicating.
Dave, I paid $27k with 70k miles.
you are under the curve Seeeu911, which is where you need to be for the purchase. Good buy! Couldn't agree more on PSE...intoxicating. Have you done the PSE mod so it "never shuts off"? Takes about 10 minutes.

. Very well done! You will enjoy this car a lot (and scare your passenger on the on-ramps)... :-)

That's a great looking car! Especially you cannot beat that price. I was always a bit scared of higher mileage Porsches, especially ones with M96 engines, but this just really makes me second guess myself of paying almost 3x for what is really the same car, just a bit newer....maybe I should just sell mine!
