Would still like to know if this is the correct part and if the images shown with 2 wires can be used by only connecting the single side.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Replacing the alternator on my '02 996 Carrera cab and the single wire that is in a snap on connector to the back of the alternator needs to be replaced. Porsche dealership said the part was 1J0973772 but it doesn't want to connect to the alternator. Google image search of 1J0973772 looks correct with one end being squared off and the other being round BUT it just doesn't want to snap into the alternator. Additionally most Google images show two wires coming out of the connector (red and black) but I have a single blue wire on that was on the round side. Does anyone know the part number of the snap on connector to the alternator? If it is this 1J0 part, can one simply hook up the circular side? Thanks in advance.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I may have answered my own question in getting it to fit better. On the flat side there is an opening and with a small screw driver I can push an internal rubber fitting that allows the pingtail onto the alternator post. Would still like to know if this is the correct part and if the images shown with 2 wires can be used by only connecting the single side. Thanks

POST 3Original post

Should be single wire, just for signal back to the dash

POST 4Original post

Single wire. That is the wire that turns the Alternator warning light on. Don't believe everything you see on Google.
