Because the Tiptronic transmission adds significant weight over the rear axle, Porsche used thicker-diameter wire on these coils to prevent the rear end from sagging.

Suggestion

I'll jump in here as I have a 996.1 C2 with tiptronic and I am also looking into replacing the US standard coil springs with ROW standard coil springs which apparently drop the height by 10mm while retaining the stock spring ratings.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can someone please the correct part numbers for ROW front and rear springs please. This is for my 99 C2. I have looked at the Elephant Racing page and want to make sure of what I need. I am seeing if my local dealer can still order them. Thanks Joey

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The M030 please. Looking to lower it. Would the standard ROW lower the car as well?

POST 4Original post

I'll jump in here as I have a 996.1 C2 with tiptronic and I am also looking into replacing the US standard coil springs with ROW standard coil springs which apparently drop the height by 10mm while retaining the stock spring ratings. I did get the below from Gemini search, however it is for 996.1 with tiptronic. I am looking to retain stock compliance, lower ride height slightly, and then will add sway bars to reduce lean during cornering, etc. To me this will be a good setup for normal use and some DE activities, just based upon past suspension setups with G Bodies. It seems the tiptronic rear springs are thicker than those for a manual trans, so color codes make a difference. There are also, from what I read, rear spring shims that go on top of the coil if you find you want or need to increase rake once you do the install. I plan to make a few calls to see if I can confirm this info, and if I can I plan to move forward this winter. 996.1 (with M029): Front Coil Springs Because the front axle weight is uniform regardless of whether you have a manual or automatic transmission, the front springs for the standard ROW suspension are the same. Porsche Part Number: Code: 996-343-531-03-504 Factory Color ID Markings: 1 Green Stripe / 1 Orange Stripe [[url=https://www.pelicanparts.com/byv-996-1999/b-genuine-porsche/c-suspension-steering_c-suspension-shocks-springs_c-coil-springs?srsltid=AU7gw4UdAJzZY5MKGpbPviWyWrMIfp1Qbo6dC1eRDKBOgyTsiaG_qs-k]1] Rear Coil Springs (Tiptronic Specific) This is the most critical part number for your setup. Because the Tiptronic transmission adds significant weight over the rear axle, Porsche used thicker-diameter wire on these coils to prevent the rear end from sagging. Porsche Part Number: Code: 996-333-531-37-504 (often listed with a suffix like Code: -OEM ) Factory Color ID Markings: 1 Brown Stripe / 1 Red Stripe When installing these, inspect the condition of your rear upper spring compensation plates (shims) . If you find the rear sits just slightly lower than you prefer once the new springs settle, you can swap the upper rubber shims for a thicker factory size (Porsche offers them in 4.0mm and 6.5mm steps) to dial in your exact height. I hope this helps.

POST 5Original post

Its my understanding that US standard springs are 10 mm higher in the front than the ROW standard springs, but the same in the rear. The US M030 springs are not any lower than US standard. But the ROW M030 springs are 20MM lower in the front and 10mm lower in the rear than either US spring.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After doing more research and talking to my Porsche dealer. These are the 2 springs I ordered. 1 in stock in California. The other in Germany. I wanted ROW M030 springs. 99633353171504 and 99634353124504

POST 7Original post

Great to hear. Thanks for sharing the part numbers. Are you planning to use b4, b6, or b8 struts - or something else completely? My car for some reason (previous owner looks like checkbook mechanic based upon the history I have been given, so a dealer installed and I assume recommended) has B6 in rear and B4 in front. I am planning to install B6 in front and keep the B6 in rear, and end up with ROW M029 stock springs on all four corners. Car handles great now, just want flatter corners (swaybars) and to eliminate the mismatching struts... Plz let us know how your upgrade fees and handles once you are complete.

I am using B8s for my shocks. The one set of springs will be here this week. The other coming from Germany could be 4 weeks. I will keep you updated. I currently have the have factory springs and B4. I replaced these about a year or so ago. But it is just too high. But I definitely like the ride. Thanks Joey
