Just look at a tutorial for replacing the hydraulic cylinders and notice the potentiometer that is ONLY on the drivers side....Then inspect yours to see if it is properly attached...

Have you tried pulling the pump plug and using a volt meter on it to see what, if any, volts are at the plug?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I just picked up a 2000 Cab a few weeks ago and the top doesn't go down. The clam shell still operates and windows go down as they should. I applied 12v directly to the pump and the top goes down that way. Has anyone has a simliar issue? I believe it's some sort of electrical issue. The top cylinders were rebuilt before my ownership, I also checked fluid and its full. Thanks

POST 2Original post

There is a potentiometer ( position sensor) that has to be removed and reinstalled when doing the hydraulic cylinders... it is very easy to leave it undone,, seen it many times... Just look at a tutorial for replacing the hydraulic cylinders and notice the potentiometer that is ONLY on the drivers side....Then inspect yours to see if it is properly attached...

That was hooked up, tired another top control module I had that is known to be good still same issue. I will have to dig into the micro switches deeper. Can hear relay click on just no power to the pump.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update Parking brake pulled, top button pushed down all windows drop, clam shell open all the way and top doesn't go down. I hear a clicking coming from top module but no power to the pump. Confirmed no power to pump when button is pressed. Top will go up and down when 12v is applied directly to the pump. A new controller was also installed same issue. Any other suggestions? Thank you

POST 7Original post

Have you tried pulling the pump plug and using a volt meter on it to see what, if any, volts are at the plug?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
