So I got the usual PSM / ABS light for no apparent reason. The warning lights only came on when I switched my headlights on (even in the side light position). Swapped out the brake pedal switch as a cheap experiment - didn't fix it. Pulled the tail light pods and noticed that both filaments of the tail/stop light bulbs on both sides were lit when the headlights were on (but no foot on the brake pedal). and here's what I found... one of the OEM Hella bulbs had gone bad and the internal filament mounts had welded themselves together on one side causing a short between the tail/stop circuits - wow I thought! Anyway, new bulb fixed it of course. Thought it might help someone in the future as the other Hello tail/stop bulb in my car was also heading this way so obviously a systematic problem. I guess it trips the computer in some way. Have a nice day

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
