I bought a set of used PSE mufflers and then purchased all the electronics because I was concerned about making too much noise when I left at 5 am to go to the gym.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Anyone know if a switchable aftermarket set-up is available as an alternative to OE PSE?....or is it possible to fit a remotely operated valve into the by-pass tube of a modified standard set-up? I've found some, any thoughts on sound from links below or personal experience?....I like the sound of a V-Twin bike over an inline 4 if that helps in guiding me!.....deeper rather than 'screamer' Some I've found... POST 2Original post

finding a PSE system is probably a hell of a lot more expensive than sending your cans to Darin Fistier to have him do the modification. During normal driving, nice and quiet, no drone, BUT when you step on it, the symphony comes alive, a snile breaks out across your face and you wish you lived near a long tunnel....and all for a modest sum.......so I suggest the Fister D mod, save some bucks and put that savings toward some other mod on your list.

POST 4Original post

Just like 80% of the peeps that get coilovers and adjust them once, you have to ask yourself if you really need the switching capability. Are you willing to pay $1500-$2k+ premium over a FisterD for example for this switching feature? There's only been a handful here that was willing to pay for that switching premium. Personally, there's a lot of other things I'd rather spend the coin on.

POST 5Original post

Ditto to all the above. I got mine last spring and for the price you can't go wrong.

That's certainly a good point ...but I do suffer with a constant headache, and I thought that it might be a desireable feature to be able to 'turn the volume down' at times. BTW, I am UK based, is the Fister still a reaslistic option?...I'd have at least +20% import tax/duty to pay. Still chepaer than switchable (true) but could someone do the same over here for me? Many thanks for all replies. Cheers

POST 7Original post

Funny, when I hear my exhaust my headaches go away...

POST 8Original post

I have the FisterD mod on my car and it really is how the car should sound from the beginning. Not intrusive by any means. As for someone doing the work for you in the UK, you can pull the specs from various posts on this forum (search for "FisterD) and take them to a local, reputable muffler shop to have the hack done. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

That would be nice...18 years constant (24/7) headache is no fun!

I've found some photos, so may well show them to an excellent welder I know and see what he reckons. Are there different specs for tube/pipe diameter?...I've seen mention of different stages of the Fister mufflers. Thanks

POST 11Original post

I have Fisters on my C4S and they're fantastic. I love the sound.

If you wanna keep it on the conservative side then stick with 1.5" or else some go to 2" to make it more louder and pronounced.

POST 13Original post

Fabspeed has a Valvetronic Maxflo muffler that allows the user to swtich between sound preferences with the provided key fob.

Stage 1 was the original Fister hack. He then modified it to what he does now and referred to it as stage 2 to distinguish it and I am pretty sure that is the only type of modification he does to a 996. In other words, there is no longer a "stage 1" as an option.

POST 16Original post

I bought a set of used PSE mufflers and then purchased all the electronics because I was concerned about making too much noise when I left at 5 am to go to the gym. Total cost, including labor was about $2,300. If I had it to do over again, I would go with Fister D's or the Gundo Hack and save $1,800 or more. PSE, just like the Fisters, are relatively tame until you really step on it - and then, enjoy the music!
