Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

First time Porsche buyer. I'm looking at a 2004 4s Cab. It's 6 speed with 33k miles. 2 owners. All service records. No oil leaks and RMS done at 10k miles. No history of IMS getting replaced. Everything checks out with the car. PPI pending.
Can I get away with getting the IMS done when the clutch needs to be replaced down the road? I've read a lot about the ims issues and I'm getting cold feet.
Anything I should know before I buy? Price $35k.
Actually the one in looking at has Tiptr, I drive a lot and am always in traffic so 6 speed would kill me. It's Guards Red, 04 Cab 4S as well, little more mileage at 65k.
do a search here, you'll find a thousand threads on the subject. Generally higher mileage cars are less prone.

Adcampo, I know that for a newbie the IMSB issue can be overwhelming, but for anyone who has owned a 996 for more than 3 weeks, it's an issue that most would rather have toothpicks shoved under their fingernails than discuss again.
Don't let the IMSB issue scare you off. I replaced mine at 100,000 miles (and just as a preventative maintenance measure). Buy the car, and replace the IMSB when you do the clutch. That's my $0.02.
P.S. You will love the car!
