Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

can someone explain the difference between these two leathers?? I'm ordering a GT3 and my dealer thinks I should just go with the black and that the Naural Grey is not worth the extra $1500 over Black(says the two colors are also very close in person). Also, is the stitching on the Natural Grey in a dev. color like the Black leather? Thanks for the help!

POST 2Original post

I'm of the opinion that grey leather has no place on a car as focused as the GT3. Save the money towards GT3 Seats...

POST 3Original post

the natural grey leather is not grey at all. when you see it in person it just like the black leather. i was TOLD by dealer that the leather is of a better grade. however, metalsolid is right, save the money and go with GT3 seats aftermarket.

POST 4Original post

I have natural Grey in my Boxster S and like it. But that said I would do what the others recommend and put the money in another toy for the car. Pics of my interior are in the photos at the links below. Question, are they selling this car to you for MSRP or are they trying to up the ante? I am really "needing" one of those cars and curious. Are you working with the SA dealer?

POST 5Original post

I had Space Grey/Artic Silver in my 996 and I loved that combination. So I too was considering Natural Grey for an AS GT3. The price deterred me. My salesperson did say that the black seats have a grey stitching in them, so there was no need to order deviating stitching. I don't know if he knows what he is talking about or not. It's too subtle to see if the interior pictures that are currently available. Karl

POST 6Original post

From Porsche: "There are two Special Leather Interiors to choose from Natural Leather Grey and Natural Leather Brown. The Natural Leather interiors include carpeting in the same color as the leather; contrasting trim is finished black leather/leatherette. Real leather. With the scars to prove it There's nothing mass-produced about the interior of a Porsche, as anyone who has experienced the quality and comfort of our hand-sewn upholstery will appreciate. The leathers we use are carefully selected to match the legendary longevity of our cars. And specially treated to ensure they grow old in style. Yet despite the quality of our existing interior options, we'll never stop looking for new ways to improve our cars. Which is why we can now offer a choice of natural leathers for the interior of a Porsche. Our natural leathers are hand-crafted from the finest quality skins, where insect bites and scars aren't a sign of imperfection, but a hallmark of authentic, natural quality. Quality you can see, smell and feel. Carefully dyed to retain the unique character imbued by Mother Nature, Porsche natural leathers are available in a choice of Natural Brown or Natural Grey, and develop a refined and elegant patina with the years. They are also extremely soft to the touch, creating a relaxing ambiance of warmth and comfort in your Porsche. Special care for a special material Although natural leather is extremely easy to look after, there are some important points to remember. The natural surface, for example, does not have the same opaque protective layer as our standard leathers, which means it can be more susceptible to damage from water or heavy loads. To keep your Porsche natural leather in pristine condition for years to come, it must be cleaned regularly with a soft wool or microfibre cloth. This removes fine dust particles without damaging the surface. Porsche also has its own leather care products for dealing with tougher stains and marks such as ink, lipstick or shoe polish. Once the leather has been cleaned, it is ready for long-term protection with Porsche's own leather conditioner. This feeds the leather, and protects it against liquids, grease and dirt leaving your upholstery soft, pleasant on the skin, and totally breathable throughout the life of your car."

POST 8Original post

You have to see the Black and Natural Grey interiors side-by-side to appreciate (or not) the difference. I was fortunate to have found two such cars next to each other in the showroom. Just swing the doors open, and you'll see a significant difference. The natural grey interior is richer, and the carpet is charcoal. I ordered deviating Natural Grey carpet with my Graphite Grey full-leather (C2). I'll post pictures when: 1. I get a digital camera. 2. My damned car gets here! (On the boat? On the truck? Who the hell knows?) Cheers, -DT

POST 9Original post

Natural gray will be more difficult to repair or replace for long term ownership, than black. I ordered for June, Arctic silver/full black leather.

POST 10Original post

I think the NGL is a higher grade leather. BLACK <img src="http://www.fototime.com/A750F159DF443C7/standard.jpg" alt=" - " /> NGL <img src="http://www.fototime.com/47BA886EA5212F3/standard.jpg" alt=" - " />

POST 11Original post

I have read the same about NGL. That NGL is a better grade leather. But the dealers can not confirm that when I was about to order an X 50 last fall. In order to match in color and grain you need to cut from the same full hide. You will never match NGL from to different hides. Black is a better bet, again if you plan to keep the car over time as I do.

POST 12Original post

FWIW it is almost impossible to fully remove any mark caused by anything oily (even sweat) out of that type of hide. On the other hand, scratches and scuffs, which tend to be permanent on opaque hides, can most often be rubbed out quite easily.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
