Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Last week I drove my just polished up Arctic silver 99 996 C2 to the office. As I don't regularly do so and don't have my own spot in the building, I had it valeted (Yes, Yes, I know). Much to my horror while washing the p-car on Saturday I noticed that someone dropped something on the car (it could only have been in the valet garage) and dented my hood! I was actually able to push the dent up from underneath the panel to make it smooth. But in the right light, you can clearly see the deformation. It drives me nuts. Can a body shop return the ding-labile 996 hood to new condition? Should I consider a carbon-fiber hood replacement? Can they even be painted to match? -Thomas 1999 Arctic Silver 996 C2 B&M Shifter Fabspeed Exh. Litronics clear side and tailights

POST 3Original post

I shut the hood on something and dented it out. I went to one of those dent removal guys and took it out perfectly. After that, I took my daily driver to them (it had a lot of door dings) and they took them all out. I could not tell at all. I'd check with your dealer, or other highline dealers in your area, and ask for suggestions. It's worth a try and much cheaper than a paint shop. Good luck. Roy

SAme thing i had closed the hood and dented it out. I took it to my bodyshop and they had a dent wizard guy comeout and he fixed it in about 1 hour. Cost about 300.00 but you cannot tell if it ever was dented

Thanks for the responses. I'll give it a try. I just hope that my pushing up from the back didn't make it worse. -Thomas

An update: I had a paintless dent removal guy come out yesterday and he did a great job (Matt at Dent Masters www.weundent.com *no affiliation!*). You can't tell it was ever dented. All for $125. Thanks for the tips. -Thomas

A good friend of mine is a paintless dent repairman in the central Ohio area (Dan the Dentman). I watched him take some dings out of my door and was absolutely amazed at the results. Anybody in Ohio need a referral, let me know. I am "affiliated" in that he is a friend but have no financial interest, but he does do awesome work.
