Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just put a 3-spoke steering wheel in my 99 - looks so much better than the old one- but then I notice that the wheel is lighter than the rest of my interior. The full-leather I have is jet black, but the wheel is more like a dark charcoal. Did Porsche change blacks in 2000? Also, while I shouldn't be so **** about the difference, it really is bothering me - any ideas what I could do to darken the wheel up?

POST 2Original post

Do you think you just got a poorly finished wheel? I assume it was a factory wheel. Bummer.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No, it's a used wheel but a brand-new airbag from the factory, and they match themselves perfectly. But they're definitely lighter. I have a new shifter on order, and that's lighter as well, so I'm wondering why Porsche would have made 2 different blacks...

POST 4Original post

The only TRUE black is inside a BLACK HOLE, and you're invited, eventually....

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Willard - good point. If I buy that, I may as well put on a hot pink steering wheel and a light green bumper on the front, since at the end of the day it won't really matter anyway, huh? DPBLESSING, I'll call Matt tomorrow and see what they can do - thanks for the advice,,,

POST 6Original post

Maybe your wheel's Natural Grey, assuming there is such a thing. NG looks black, until you put it next to a black-black interior. -DT

POST 7Original post

I have seen this happen on lots of guys late model Porsches... Like the poster above says, there is a Graphite and there is a black. I cant tell you how many guys with Graphite have SWORN that their interior is BLACK just to find out that it was actually Graphite after comparing the two. Its close, but its not exact. Black is black, graphite is a touch lighter.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
