This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, A good friend of mine just purchased a 2003 C4S w/ Tip (I couldn't convince him to get the 6-speed) last weekend. He loves the car as is, but wants to start lightly modifying it. What do you think are the must have mods? He definitely would like more hp, but we don't know what companies offer the best performance parts for the 996. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. By the way, is the 2000 mile break in period absolutely necessary? It seems extraordinarily lengthy. Sandy

POST 2Original post

Talk to Bob at Foreign Affairs Motorsports [phone removed]. He has a 2003 c4s which is a project car. On my 2001 c4 we added a short shifter, ghl stainless steel exhaust and headers, cold air box, engine remapping, brake ducts, 3rd radiator, etc. I track the car alot.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mike, How much of a hp increase do you think you gained by changing the intake, headers and mufflers? Is the GHL better than the factory performance mufflers? I am considering putting a GHL Quad tip system on my ZO6. They appear to make the highest quality system for the Z. How do you like the new exhaust note? Thanks for the feedback.

POST 4Original post

i know it's tempting to add "stuff" to our cars. but the best performance improvement would be to goto a few high performance driving schools. it will make you a better/faster/safer driver, not just in your porsche, but also in any car you drive from that point on. just my 2 cents.

POST 5Original post

With all the mods together there was a 35 hp increase. The sound is just right. Not obnoxiously loud. Just a nice throaty rumble. I do agree that one of the best mods you can make is to do some driver ed events. Driver ability far outweighs vehicle ability.
