Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I would say that it is probably something rubbing and not tightened or adjusted right.

Check the front suspension especially where it gets close to the steering rod ends and or the sway bar links?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've searched the board about whines, but I just developed one that's a little different. In neutral, 2002 C2 Cab, if I rev the engine slightly, let's say to 1000 rpm, a whine noise develops and it can be felt on the steering column and brake pedals via a vibration. There's also a whine at the end of hard braking, the last 10 or so feet. I went by the dealer within 15 mins of it developing, and they thought it might be a faulting power steering pump. Any ideas?

POST 2Original post

my car does that when I have the ac on. It goes away when I turn it off. Not trying to be a jerk but that's about all I can think about. It would however sound like an issue of drag and if it's not that then it could very well be the power steering pump.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The whine and vibration is pronounced when the steering wheel is close to maximum limit turned left or right. The ROW M030 suspension was installed two weeks ago, and it may be a tightening issue as some prior posts had indicated as a fix, but I think it's more of a power steering issue. Anyone? Bueller?

POST 4Original post

Well if it is more pronounced at the ends of the turning then it is definitely steering related. Maybe there is somthing touching and transmitting this vibration. Check the front suspension especially where it gets close to the steering rod ends and or the sway bar links? Pretty weird.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I figured out today that the whine problem starts upon the first hard braking episode of the day, from a harnd stomp on the brakes. Does this change the picture? Any thoughts?

POST 6Original post

it might shift the suspension and or components and then make them touch something and transmit the vibration through the chassis. I would see if something like that is loose. Pretty weird though. Ah since I reacquainted myself to your post, it happened after the suspension was installed eh? I would say that it is probably something rubbing and not tightened or adjusted right. I would most probably call the shop and tell them what you are experiencing and that it didn't happen before, only after. If they are pretty good they will be able to think about it and figure it out. Speak to the shop foreman or the actual mechanic. I don't know if you had it done by a dealer but the service writers usually don't know too much and can mess things up with the communication.
