Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just finished reading a Car&Driver archived (1999) review of the 996 and in it they mentioned that they ordered there test car with optional carbon fiber handbrake and shift **** to the tune of $880. SSShhheeesh!! Are they serious? My 2002 came with these along with a carbon fiber trimmed steering wheel. Don't have the original window sticker that came with my Targa but could someone tell me if these prices were accurate?

POST 2Original post

The prices are accurate. Do a search for a 996 build guide and you will be amazed at the cost of the cosmetic upgrades. You can add 10 to 15 k to the cost with CF , leather and wood.

POST 3Original post

The current 911's , you can add around $50k in options to a ~100k car so not surprising at all.

POST 4Original post

I do have my original window sticker. The items listed in the Exclusive Options Group were: Black mats - Porsche lettering Aerokit Rear Side GT fins Three spoke carbon fiber steering wheel 18" Sport Design wheels Door grip - carbon/leather Stainless steel exhaust Carbon door sills Brake/shifter - carbon/aluminum Deviating carpet color Total for the group was $17,150 - items were not priced separately. Total price for the car was $90,275
