Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Same here, when I got my MY00 cab in 2005 I had no idea what RMS or IMSB were, and actually the PO got the clutch replaced for me before purchase.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 4Original post

Thanks for the posting. That is a great article. Nice to see someone driving and enjoying their 911 on a daily basis and not all caught up in IMSB paranoia.

POST 5Original post

Props to KK for getting a mention for his air injection pump rebuild DIY...

Nice picture of this car running through the slush... I'd never dream of doing that. 2003 Carrera 4S Speed Yellow / 1955 356 Continental 1500 Rust Red

POST 8Original post

just hope if jim is a rennlist member he doesnt get caught up in all the ims,rms hype, nice article enjoyed reading it.

POST 9Original post

After 7 years of owning a MY99 C2, I probably wouldn't buy it again after reading the relentless doom and gloom that is repeated over and over again concerning our Porsches, even though mine has been such a reliable vehicle to own.

POST 10Original post

Same here, when I got my MY00 cab in 2005 I had no idea what RMS or IMSB were, and actually the PO got the clutch replaced for me before purchase. Maybe it was indeed better not knowing :-) Now I am so happy owning this great car... Cheers,

POST 11Original post

Sorry to hear that. Knowing what we know today about the 996 "woes," I'd buy my car again in a heartbeat. I'll probably start looking for a running salvage car (something with front end or suspension damage) so I have a parts donor...I'm in this for the long haul.

POST 13Original post

Hey, I live in Madison NJ - wonder if I know the seller? After my 328i refused to move in the snow this morning, I was thinking how well the Porsche would do - all the weight over the drive wheels, etc! Then I saw the salt trucks and drove my wife's micro van to work!

You're welcome. Curbside classic has lots of reviews of older cars. It's a fun site Brian

I'm pretty sure the writer of this piece is a RLer. I remember seeing some of his RL postings contain the same pics as those in the article. Also, this explains why KK got a mention in the article...

POST 17Original post

I wrote that article, glad you enjoyed it! It is the last article of a series that I wrote every Sunday for Curbside Classic detailing each of the 42 vehicles I've owned to date. I was surprised to see someone mention it here, thanks for that! Loving the car... By the way, COAL is short for Cars Of A Lifetime in case that didn't make any sense to you non-regular readers.

POST 18Original post

See I went into the purchase of my 996 knowing full well what I was getting into. I determined that the likelihood of failure was relatively low and for the price the car was worth the risk. Fortunately soon after getting into the fold the IMS replacement came out so that addressed the biggest concern. Even so a new engine still costs less than a 993 rebuild. I too use this car as my daily driver. I'm at 139k miles now. Great article WalterRohrl!

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great article walterRohrl. I've enjoyed your entire coal series. Thanks Brian
