The ABS feel is fine, but I just really dislike the feeling of when it kicks the PSM on and you feel the brake pedal's bite point change mid corner.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, So I have read all the talks on PSM on the 996 gen cars. I have a 01 c2 thats setup well suspension-wise for hard driving and tracking. My issue is that I really dislike the pedal feel when the PSM kicks in. The ABS feel is fine, but I just really dislike the feeling of when it kicks the PSM on and you feel the brake pedal's bite point change mid corner. When I trail brake at the initial part of the turn, it really messes with me when I do any aggressive moves done at 9/10ths, esp over roads that are not crazy smooth and where you catch a bit of a crest right before the turn in. I would like to maybe just have a true off switch but would like to maintain the ABS and also turn off the electronic braking diff as well (no burning thru rear pads). I know it kicks in when you hit brakes hard... Id love to really have an option to make it fully disengage, even if I hit ABS. This would be used when I am on a track or autox. Ive also read this - https://www.deter.com/porsche/PSM.html and several forums so I am pretty unsure on what to do hence posting lol. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I can remember exactly, but u can unplug one of the connectors at the abs pump and it will prevent the psm from interfearing. The turbo guys have to do it because it will eventually burn out the abs pump. U may want to search their forum. @theprf May know or have a pic of the connector.

POST 3Original post

Find the heavy 2 conductor wire that goes between the psm pump and the abs unit. Unplug the 2-pin connector on this wire near the abs unit. This completely disables psm without affecting the abs. Downside is every startup you get a "psm fault drive to workshop" error on the screen which returns 20 minutes after you pull the stalk to clear it. Upside is it won't overuse and overheat the rear brakes.

Many thanks gentlemen! I will be sure to return to this after the major service is complete!
