I ran the car for a couple of hours yesterday and there seems no problem at all,, runs fine so far.

Yesterday i goofed by changing gear much faster than clutching pedal at about 6k rpm, and craaaaaaaackkkk the most awful gear crackle sounded like the gearbox was demolished.. yet the 2nd gear did engage. Luckily, the gears are all working at all speeds and rpm's.. but i wonder whether there's any other check i should do to make sure nothing has been damaged.. Waz 996 C2 6sp ..or 5? or 4? or 3?....!!!

Unless your car is one of the few Porsches with the known wimpy synchros and gears, it should be OK. If you want to be **** about it, you'll have to tear the tranny down to check them. I'd just keep racing those sport bikes and run over a few of them instead. BTW, did you ever race that bimmer that challenged you? I was off the boards for a while.

Thanks Palting, I ran the car for a couple of hours yesterday and there seems no problem at all,, runs fine so far. I dont think i did any damage. M5 is still chicken about the issue, am still racing bikes here which is quite a challenging feat on open roads. ..other than smoking your regular beemers, mercs and who ever thinks he's worthy of a try! Waz
