I want to change the calibers to red, change oil, and thinking about the Fisters stage 2 exhaust, so I would like all four tires off.

Also would like to leave the top on as there is no room to remove it right now, also we will use the car as soon as the snow is gone but it will still be cold and will want he top left on for a while.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I do not mean to get the same "how to lift" topic going again, I have decided that, for me, I will use this method

The question I have is
I have a 1999 996 cab, with a removable hard top. I understand the car is rigid enough to lift the front by jacking at the rear lift points and then going to the other side and again lifting the at the back until the front is high enough to get the stands under. Right now my hard top is on, is this going to be too much twisting to have the hard top on? I don't want to damage how well the top fit now by having a little body twist while lifting. Also would like to leave the top on as there is no room to remove it right now, also we will use the car as soon as the snow is gone but it will still be cold and will want he top left on for a while.
As anyone lift their car onto stands while hard top is on?
I want to change the calibers to red, change oil, and thinking about the Fisters stage 2 exhaust, so I would like all four tires off.
Any advice would be great.
I have owned for a month only got to drive it for 2 day before we got too much snow, can't wait for spring.
Did you realize the car in the DIY is a cab with the hardtop 'on'? Sounds like you are planning on starting the mods..I want to know how your calipers turn out.
Sneaky Pete, I guess my wife is right I just don't pay attention! LOL
Your right the car in the DIY does have the hard top on!
No one tell her she's right, I would never hear the end of it, I'm just going to keep playing stupid
As for painting the calipers here is where I got the idea, his turn out very nice.

I just got a lesson about how stiff the chassis is on our 996s. I thought my garage floor was sufficiently level and I proceeded to jack up my '01 C4 to do some routine maintenance. After I put the 4th jackstand in place, I went back to the other side of the car and noticed that the car was now lifted off of one of the previously placed jacks. I don't think the floor is more than 1-2 inches from level (its slightly warped/sloped for drainage) but the car is so stiff that it will not bend even that much. Coming from working on 1960s muscle cars that are so floppy you can lift one wheel 7-8 inches off the ground and the other three wheels stay put, this was a revelation.
