Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The BOSS (my son
) has spoken - the 996 cab MUST be blue! So, if you have a blue 996 could you please post a picture of it and the name of the color. Hopefully, I can narrow this down a bit, since I'm sure there are about a 100 shades of blue.
This blue is black...
I have been told by a couple of people who have seen the car at night - they thought it was dark blue.
I guess my advice it lighting has a lot to do with the color - when the Boss finds the blue he likes make sure he sees one in the bright daylight and on an overcast day - it can make a huge difference - best of luck.
There is a blue named "midnight blue" I always thought looked great.
Here's another shot of Midnight Blue Metallic for you. It can look like black in certain light, and it can look almost as blue as Lapis Blue Metallic in some light.
The blue metal flake arena red.
Notice how the lighting makes the car red.
Maybe talk to the kid and have him walk around a dealership and actually see some of the colors on cars. I tend to like this color and my favorite used to be couple or few others colors along the way.
If he does get his color tell him he has to take a detailing class on washing and waxing and its his job every weekend or when ever hehehe.
midnight blue, you can see the purple or violet tones depending on the light.a little difficult to keep perfect, but worth it.dark colors show a lot of imperfections!
Iris blue pearl and Cobalt
both look WOW!!
Lapis is nice in person as is midnight, both hard to photo..
on a side note: dont know that I have seen Van's car - sweet !! (though you might have that black spot on top of your head looked at, seem to be overtaking your hair line
)
Not a 996,, but it's definitely blue!
It's Unobtainium Blue. AKA Riviera Blue. This is strictly a PTS (paint to sample) color these days. (custom color) You won't find a 996 in this color, at least I've never seen one. Just showing possibilities. That and I always jump in when I see a BLUE thread.
Good luck with your search. Hope you end up with a blue beauty!
Phil
WOW!! Reminds me of the crystal clear turquoise ocean around the Bahamas
Maybe I miss labeled the thread - it should have read "Pictures of Blue Porsches." THEY ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL CARS
Keep the pictures coming - I am loving this

Ocean Blue Metallic 1999, with blue convertible top.
From the VIN, the convertible top cover code is LG02, but I've never seen what this color is called. It's definately a dark blue. Metropol blue perhaps?
This thread was resurrected from almost three years ago, so my guess is that the OP has long ago made the decision....
But for future blue-996-shoppers, Polar Silver, which definitely has a blue cast to it.
Here is a rare Porsche blue called "daily driver in winter rainstorms" blue
Note the beautiful dried film of dirt over the paint along with the fingerprints over the frunk and that "hasn't been washed in a over a month" appeal that so many other Porsches lack. LOL!
Ok for those of you that would rather see it at it's best, then I attached another photo of what it looked like 2 months ago in what Porsche refers to as Lapis Blue with a Savannah Beige interior.
I used to be on Maxbimmer before... that's it. My last car was a 330ci which was Topaz Blue... My next car will most likely be a Vertigo Blue Aston Martin V8 Vantage or Frost white.
