I'm having a few electrical issues and have a check engine light for the following codes. P0327 - Knock Sensor 1 short to ground P0197 - Oil temperature sensor short to ground Also the oil level gauge (electronic) is not working.. it pops on during key turn then goes straight to the clock. Only flashes for a moment and does not read oil level which is correct via dipstick. this is a 2001 C2 but I put a 3.2 boxster S engine in a few months ago. Everything runs fine except this issue. I have studied the electrical diagram and can't seem to find any commonality between these EXCEPT they are all physically close together. The knock sensor is right next to the oil level/temp sensor. I had this problem with the 3.2 oil level/temp sensor and so I swapped in another sensor and am still having the same problem. Theories 1. I tried reseating the big connectors. (right side of the engine) Everthing runs through 57/2 to the DME 2. I think this is a problem with the engine wire harness, but I have a hard time believing 3 or 4 separate wires are broken. Doesn't make sense other than they are all close together. 3. Am I missing a grounding point somewhere that I forgot to hook up? There is a grounding point on each head but im not remembering any on the top of the engine where those sensors are. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have you looked at all the wires in the engine harness? Maybe a squirrel or other rodent chewed on some of them. Seriously, it happened to me. I now keep poison in the garage just in case one of those bastards sneaks in again. Good luck,
Was reading your post and had the same thoughts as donking. Ive never seen a bad knock sensor. My guess would be faulty wiring somewhere.
