Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm curious about the price of a new, say, 996 C2 and 996TT in the States and other countries like England because I get the feeling there is significant prices for the same product.
In Spain:
996 C2 = 83,300 Euros (90,300$)
996 TT = 140,600 Euros (152,400$)
If you live in the US and want to buy a vehicle, regardless of what type...the cheapest place is Canada.
Example.
The following is taken from the GMC website.
YUKON XL DENALI AWD
Starting at MSRP $51,195* USD
On the Candian website the Yukon Denali
MSRP is $66,000 CDN.
At todays exchange rate of $1.58 $51,195USD translates into $80,888.CDN...which is a differnece of $22,000CDN or $13,924USD.
The car is about 23% cheaper in Canada.
Carlos
I haven't checked recently but generally you can reckon 1$ to 1. In other words, about 40% more expensive in the UK.
Yeaph,
I think the lowest prices around Europe by order are
1. Italy
2. Spain
3. Holland.
About Switzerland, if i'm right, the prices are 10 to 25% + to those from Spain.
Every things depends about the model, the options etc.
Paul,
Yes, I think the most expensive in europe are England, Finland, and Portugal. In Portugal I know they are 20-30% more expensive than Spain depending on Model/Brand..incredible
I wonder what are the prices for the C2 and TT in the US?
...just think, you could get a TT in the Canada for the price of a C2 in England
Andreas,
I think its fair the Swiss should pay 10-25% more for being so lucky to have the Autobahn and Nurburgring so bloody close! (that looks like Nurburgring in your avatar)
Base price for a C2 coupe in the US is US$ 69365 and the Turbo is US$ 116965 1300 gas guzzler tax. For 2003 the luxury tax went away. But you still have to pay sales tax (VAT) and registration which depending on what state you live in can be considerable. These are the base prices on the cars I got off www.kbb.com and I doubt you would find any cars equipped in such a limited manner.
The price differences are as much a political discussion as it is a Porsche related one. All countries make unique demands on a manufacturer and that cost is passed on to the consumer. While the cars themselves as getting closer and closer to worldwide (except California, but thats a whole 'nother thread <G>
there are numerous other requirements that add cost.
The C2 is 7.5% cheaper in Canada than it is in the US, and that is taking into effect the exchange rate of $1.58CDN for every US Dollar.
The GT2 is 12% cheaper in Canada
The Turbo is 7.5% cheaper.
Actually all the other models are 7.5% cheaper in Canada.
The Cayenne S is 12.5% cheaper in Canada
The Cayenne Turbo is 10% cheaper in Canada.
Thanx for the info Roger.
Just hope that prices "globalize" to that of the US/Canada before I order the 997
When comparing prices, take taxes into account!!
Canada might be 7.5% cheaper, but sales tax is around 15% vs 6% in the US (Ohio). In total, you pay more in Canada!
In Europe sales tax can be up to 25%!! When looking at prices in Holland or Denmark, please remember that "special usage taxes" can be higher than the actual "net"value of the car. As a result, Denmark and Holland are the most expensive places to buy a car (if you are a resident of those countries).
Some car manufacturers vary their prices in Europe so that end buyers pay comparable prices. In those cases, buying a car in Holland or Denmark will be cheap as long as you don't live in those countries, as sales tax and special usage tax are levied based upon your place of residence (kinda like sales tax in the US). This inequality will be phased out as per EU directives.
Porsche is one of the companies that does not practice this end-price equalization policy. As a result, net prices reflect the same base cost plus transport and special requirements.
At this moment buying a Porsche in the US is a very good deal. Not only is the dollar weak, you can also get huge discounts on new cars and the waiting lists are very short.
True, the taxes are solely responsible for the big difference in price in Portugal vs. Spain...politics
The prices I posted from Spain are after ALL the taxes of course, for comparison reasons.

Wow! thats even worse tha europe!

Actually HK is one of the cheapest places to buy cars in Asia. I believe Singapore is the worst. But now that china entered the WTO they had dropped import tarriffs from over 150% to around 48% or so.
I picked up my 02 C4S in Vancouver Canada on July 25th 2002. I paid CAN$124,500.00. I traded in a 99 Carrera Coupe. The taxes in Vancouver are 17 1/2% on the difference between the trade in allowance and the 124,500. The exchange rate is 1.53 today. The car has heated seats, advanced technic package, rain sensor/dimming mirrors, and black floor mats.
I had the Porsche Sports exhaust dealer installed later for CAN$3,300. So if I had bought my car (without the exhaust)with trade in I would have paid US$95,612.00.
I ordered it Jan 25th, 2002 and took delivery July 25th, 2002 almost 6 months to the day. My salesman told me last week that if I wanted a Cayenne I could probably get one from the first batch they receive in March if I am not too picky on colour. He quoted me $61,500 American dollars for a Cayenne S including Canadian taxes with no trade in. I believe the dealers have been told by PNA how many Cayennes they MUST take, unlike the C4S of which they have very limited supply, approx 4 per month. I think they have 10 or 15 Cayennes in the first shipment. I guess thats how Porsche claims they have sold out the first years production.
