Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone retrofitted the porsche cab subwoofer enclosure into a car that didn't come with it?

POST 2Original post

This thread discussed a few options, and I believe one of the members had a custom enclosure they were willing to part with. It didn't work for me as I have a cab. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...l#post18495728

POST 3Original post

What colour are you after? I have a red & savannah for a coupe

POST 4Original post

I bought a used Bose subwoofer from an 03 Cab and retrofitted it into my 01 cab. I removed the bottom facing Bose speaker and sealed up the box. I was able to install a shallow mount Focal 8 sub into the side of the box. It was too narrow for the 6.5 JL Audio sub I originally bought based on the volume. I was able to mount in the factory location in the passenger footwell. I discovered a preexisting hole for a crush rivet on the floor under the carpet and mounted one end there but had to drill to mount the end by the firewall. Happy to share photos if you like. Should work the same for a coupe if thats where you want to mount vs behind the rear seats. With the JL Audio 6.5 sub and spacer Current install with 8 shallow Focal sub.

POST 5Original post

I would love to see more photos. Upgraded audio is on the menu for this off-season's work.

POST 6Original post

I did the same thing in my Boxster. It works really good. Make sure you get the factory mounting hardware.

I wonder if I "upgrade" the Bose sub that is in my car to this if it would give me that much better sound?

POST 8Original post

So this is in the passenger foot well and not the rear?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info - will have to see if the hole in the floor exists in a 99 coupe. Do you have pics of how it's installed? Where the mounting hardware attaches?

POST 10Original post

IMO it would be hard to be much worse than the Bose setup. I jammed mine full of sound insulation just to try and cut down on the boom. EDIT: Keep in mind that this will affect stuff like carpet and rubber floor mats. Standard ones will no longer fit. Ask this P car noob how he found that out...

POST 11Original post

this was one of the options back in the day but it was pricy from what i remember. sound fills really well due to the small cockpit. i used to see my subs "dance" thru the rear view mirror when i had it cranked up

POST 12Original post

Folks First off thanks so much to all for taking the time to check out my build and share your thoughts! I have deliberated back and forth on so many items as am sure many have and am "mostly" settled on this build: https://porsche-code.com/PTATIPJ7 ✅ Leather inlay w light sliver trim: I do agree with the more leather the better. Wasn't thrilled about the light silver versus a darker trim. But ultimately.the leather won over ❎ Dashboard in Leather: well I may notice, no one else will. I feel I can do without this one. MartinHines I love how you illustrated this for me. It tempts me It also a lil upsetting that you have to pay extra to complete this section ❎ RAS: where I netted -- nice to have. My SA said I'm not gonna really notice it unless I track the car. It does add weight and something else to fix. ( drcollie ) thanks for offering a test drive - I'm in Miami - we dont really have curvy roads ❎ Seat Back Shells in Leather- it kills me that the 14 way has leather and the 18 way doesn't. This is a cruel play by the Porsche gods. My SA says I don't need it and it's a look without them. Not 100% out, but currently not in my build. I kinda like the two tone effect without the leather. I def wanty the 18-way ❎ Axle Lift: I don't have it in my current cab and don't feel I need it. At $650 for the bottom plastic piece I can afford to replace 5 and break even if the car will lower, I'd get it ❎ Burmeister: as with many of these, if money were no object sure. ✅ HD-Matrix Design LED Headlights in Black - and aluminated sills in black. I hate paying the extra 1K, but it's a look ✅ dash cam wiring only $130 - I may not do the Porsche dash cam so I assume this would then be a waste of money? Mr.Brightside : Thanks for comments on spyder wheels. I just love em. on the seats I really want to feel that hug from the sides but you inspired me to actually try them to make 100% sure My lock is Sunday. So fun geeking out on all of this
