Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'weather related' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'weather related' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check with pcna and in the end didn't charge me' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

He was actually wondering whether or not to charge me for the battery but checked with PCNA and in the end didn't charge me for the battery.

It seems about every 20th time I use the thing it just won't work and then it goes back to normal.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

after i physically open the door using the key in the lock i can then lock/unlock remotely.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

anyone had this problem? on a number of occasions i had not been able to unlock the doors with the remote signal from the key. this is after i had no problem locking doors remotely 1 hour prior. i have tried pointing at different sides of the car, at the front grill, etc. after i physically open the door using the key in the lock i can then lock/unlock remotely. this has happened 4-5 times. concerned the alarm may be malfunctioning along with the door lock sensor.
Hi Groberts,
I worte about this about two weeks ago. My car has very inconsistent remote locking. Sometimes it works, other times it doesnt and it seems totally random. I have tried replacing the battery and that didnt do anything. I am thinking about going to the dealer to have it reset, but I am afraid it will cost a lot. I am also hoping it has something to do with the crap weather we have been having on the east coast.

I, too have experienced this problem. I thought my key battery was dead and then it just started working again. It seems about every 20th time I use the thing it just won't work and then it goes back to normal. Ash, if you do take yours in and they do have a solution, let us know will you? I've got an '02 so it seems that the year is not a factor.
I have a similar problem, but I have narrowed mine down to a particular place where I park the car. You might want to look for any patterns like that. It might just be RF interference in that area.
Don't forget, cold temperature serious diminishes the power output of a battery, much less the tiny little thing inside your key head. If your keys are cold that could be one answer. As for having the dealer look at it, aren't you still under warranty?
I too have the same problem and it's really warm here in Los Angeles. So, I don't think temperature has anything to do with it. I think Porsche needs to take a look and bring it up to the German standard of excellence.

Both of my keys on a brand new C2 went out in a matter of 4 months. The first one would light up when pressed but the car just didn't recognize the signal. The second one just stayed lit one day and would not go off. I took the car in with both of the keys. The dealer said that one of my key's internal unit needed to replaced and the other one had a weak battery. He was actually wondering whether or not to charge me for the battery but checked with PCNA and in the end didn't charge me for the battery. Both of my keys are now working.
I am hoping my issue is weather related. It could be an issue with location, but I get different behavior in the same spot (my garage, sometimes it works, other times it doesnt). I want to check it out with the dealer, but my car is a '99 (7/98 build date) so it is out of warranty. I am not trying to pay like $500 to get the keyless entry to work, especially if it is just gonna break again a couple of months later.
