Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The disc is now considered a wear item and should be replaced when worn beyond spec.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My disks are starting to look a little rusted and grooved. Was expecting that at the mext service due in a cople of months , Ill need new discs and pads.
I saw an advert from a P- specialist to grind the discs to re-new them
for about 70 a disc.
Just wondering what you guys thought on this.

Fadz posted about disk rusting.. they replies were that you always have to drive the car after washing it.. OK, what if ure driving in the rain? maybe the discs will be hot enough by then to evaporate the water on it and around..
But logically, I think if the disks are warped *therefore need grinding with a lathe machine to eat a few micro-meters from it* you're better-off changing them since they must have gone through enough heat and metal fatigue (?) to warp again or lose their initial strenght.. Moreover, if you track your car or drive regularly rough on brakes, that could be a factor? At 16k miles it's not normal for the discs to do that.. That's my guess only.

Unless there has been abuse you should not need pads or discs at 16,000 miles.
Rust is normal -- and there is no such thing as a warped brake disc (see <a href="http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/warped_rotors_myth.htm" target="_blank">The Warped Brake Disc Myth</a>).
The amount of remaining pad (tolerance) before changing them is 2 mm (new pads are 28 mm front and 24 mm rear).
Brake discs would only need to be replaced if they are worn beyond tolerance (2.0 mm) OR if there are visible cracks (over 7 mm long) between the cooling holes or edge of the disc.
A few hard stops will knock the rust off. If you wnat to machine them because of braking vibration, the "renewed" thinner disc will dissapate less heat and warp sooner, convincing you that you just should have replaced them in the first place. The disc is now considered a wear item and should be replaced when worn beyond spec. AS
