Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Having recently purchased my 99' C4 Cabriolet, with Sport Design wheels. On removing the wheels to give them a good clean and generally clean under the arches.
I noticed some small corrosion on the inside of the wheel starting where the rim joins. The car has only done 6,000 and is as new, I am a little surprised by this. Has any others had experience of this and what advice can people give me. I imagine rubbing back and lacquering is the answer. Fortunately, the corrosion cannot be seen without looking for it, but by cleaning the inside of the wheel - this makes it more noticeable.
We have a 99 C2 18" turbo wheels, from our dealer on purchase the 2 rear wheels were refurbished but the front 2 are original, although ours has travelled 80K they show no signs of corrosion. You may have just been unlucky, suggest a refurbish should sort out problem, more intrugued that you took the time and trouble to remove the wheel to clean it, deep respect!! To scared to jack ours up, took it to OPC to repair a nail in the tyre!
FWIW, I had a driver's side leaker at about 7K on 18" Sport Design wheels. I cleaned the wheel when I removed it and saw nothing like you describe. Car is 16 months old.
Thanks for your input guys, fortunately it's the rear of the wheel. I will try and post a photo. I'm not unhappy the car had only 6,000 on the clock and is as new.
As for taking the wheels off to clean under the arches, and rear of wheels - I did wonder before hand. But,the calipers look awesome afterwards. I must admit I checked the wheel nuts about three times afterwards, I had a vision one wheel was loose !!!
Just looking forward to the Spring and summer now.

Well - spoke to the OPD today and it's common I'm afraid on Split Rims !! and thats the Sport Design. Bit of a duffer as I really like the wheel design, it's put down to water in between the two rims. Some of you may be reading this wondering, well the the UK - we do get a lot of rain in the winter (darn weather)says the cabriolet owner.
I need a refurb, but whats weird is none of the wheels have any dings or marks from parking, they're perfect. So from looking at the car no-one would know but me, and the P- car owner looking very close.
Letting the dirt build up again on the back of the wheel will hide it - but I know now !!!! <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />
I'm taking the car in 10 days, for then to see - I'll keep you posted.
