Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

FWIW, I learned the hard way not to "top off" when filling the tank.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

I topped off once, it took the emissions system a week to get back to normal.

POST 2Original post

I had the same thing and needed to have the filler tube replaced. I couldn't fill the tank at all when it happened to me though. Were you able to fill the tank? If so, it may have been something else.

POST 3Original post

FWIW, I learned the hard way not to "top off" when filling the tank. Same thing happens as you describe

POST 4Original post

Same here. No more "topping off" the tank for me after an overflow during first refill.

POST 5Original post

I topped off once, it took the emissions system a week to get back to normal. These cars are VERY sensitive about doing that. In your case there was prolly a little more gas in the pump handle than should have been and it effectivly "topped" off the tank. If you pump real slow, it is possible to overrun the tank limit without having the pump shut itself off. I learned that onece topping off my Tahoe (which you can do), the result was a stream of gas on the ground without the pump switching off......
