Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have seen a few used 2002 with low miles and are offered in the mid 60's.

Since that's the best price new, with zero mileage, I would certainly want to pay something less for a car that's used with 5K miles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wife & I drove a nice Silver/Black '02 996 C2 today that the local (Bellevue WA) dealer has taken on consignment. 5k miles, and they're asking "low 70s". It stickered for 81+. The owner upgraded to a Turbo
I *love* the car. The new 3.6, combined w/the light narrow-body 2wd coupe, flies, and sounds amazing.
Questions:
- anything in particular to watch out for w/used '02 996s?
- should I swing for a PPI w/a car with this little miles? Think the Porsche dealer (the one consigning the car) could handle it, or would you go independent?
- does the price seem reasonable?
- would it be worth having the dealer "certify" the car?
Finally, I realize it's a shot in the dark, but if the current owner of the car (the one who is consigning it @ the local Porsche dealer in Bellevue, WA) is on the board, ping me & we'll talk offline
Thanks for any pointers,
Scott.
I've been watching prices for quite a while. I consider the starting point on any used 996 to be invoice price. The very best price on leftover '02's (and '01's a year ago) is very close to invoice. On the car you're looking at that was probably about 70K. Since that's the best price new, with zero mileage, I would certainly want to pay something less for a car that's used with 5K miles.
I have to agree. I have seen a few used 2002 with low miles and are offered in the mid 60's. So, why dont you think, what works for you and make an offer and if things work out. Congrads and post some pics.
Dont over think it! I mean you can always find a better deal but how long before you find that deal.
Good luck
I think the "low 70's" is definitely too high.
I just purchased a similar '02 996 with 10k miles.
It MSRP'ed at $74k and I bought it for $59k
(consignment for other client of dealer) from
dealer--almost perfect condition. I wouldn't pay
any more than $66k for a car like you described.
Note that all those options don't command that
much money in resale; and you are essentially
buying the car thru private party, not the dealer. If you search around I'm sure you
would find atleast a few similar cars that would
go for the mid 60's.
Good luck.
