Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anyone had any tuning work done to their 2002 2003 996? such as airbox, air filters, intakes? im curious if any of these mods have been tested by listers with a dyno. thanks,

POST 2Original post

i've heard that those wont make much power difference.. maybe less than 5HP.. it's more for sound effects... i think ECU upgrade is the only thing that truly makes the difference, however, not much still.. as for exhaust, it's more for sound, not much power diff either... and headers are just overkill.. porsche does a very good job with its factory header, there's no need to get anything different, even if you're getting an ECU upgrade the stock will work fine... personally, i would not try to improve the car's performance, the only thing i'd do is ECU with uppgraded suspension.. goin' for anything else.. might as well save the money and buy some other car that's got real potential.. 993TT

POST 4Original post

Really? because the techart kit, the fabspeed kit, and the porsche factory kit, (the most Pricey) all seem to put out about the same power albeit with different exhaust notes and I am sure different dyno graphs a bit. They all seem to put out about the mid to upper 20 hp's. I have also seen chips here and there that increase hp about the same and some that claim to do more, but as many here have pointed out seem more than outrageous and should be viewed with a sceptical eye. All in all other than some saying the fabspeed exhaust sounds like a motor boat, it seems like the best bang for the buck, albeit still expensive.
