Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After the first winter of being "stored", 8k miles, my contis became extremely noisy. I'm looking at replacing them with Bridgestone RE730s for the beat low noise, quietness, factor. Any opinions?

POST 2Original post

Have you contacted Continental? I too stored my car last year from Nov to May, but had no such problem. Just inflated the tires to 50psi and parked on top of 1/2" plywood (to insulate from the concrete floor). No flat spotting upon first drive. Most people I have spoken to at DE's are happy with the Continentals, and a lot of TT owners switched due to a batch of out of round Pirellis which were impossible to balance. Happy Holidays,

POST 3Original post

I have Conti's too and no noise concerns after last years 3 months storage. I store same way Itc does, and its been fine over last two years. I suspect after 8K miles, you still have another 3-4K on rear tires, so no need to buy new tires now. I suggest increasing pressure to our 45 pounds, drive carefully for about 10 miles to get tires warm, and then deflate to normal range of about 37 pounds. Suspect may be a little out of round, but needs a little driving to round off. Also, may be of balance. Also found Conti customer service to be good, so a call may be in order.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Conti has agreed to credit me 2/3 of the value of the rear tires. Tires have been noisy all this past summer regardless of inflation pressure. My 99 C2 came with Pirellis which I replaced at about 17k with Michelins. The Pirellis also got very noisy and wanted to follow ruts too much. Michelins have been super (25k now) but the tirerack reviews on the RE730 seem to rate them higher than the Michelins.
