I have seen reports on other forums of people that have installed a transmitter into the radio antenna system.
Leading evidence: 'Install transmitter into the radio antenna system' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install transmitter into the radio antenna system' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone know if it is possible to add another line in stereo inputs to the standard CD radio in a 01 996? I.e. I have an Mp3 player I would love to hook up directly to the stereo (without going through a radio transmitter thingie for instance). I don't have the CD changer - is it possible to fool the stereo into thinking the mp3 player is the external CD changer?
Yes, you can use Aux-In.
You have to order the cable from Becker. The cable connects to the back of your stock unit and provides 2 rca input patch cables.
Quick question Dan, can you do this if you have the CD changer as well? Basically are there both AUX and CD inputs on the head unit? I have the Bose package on my 2002 996.
Thanks!

Hello guys, funny i was just about to write about this issue..
I have already fooled with the stock headset by running a parallel amp to the existing Nokia amp. With the help of good'old'Loren here who sent me audio diagram of the 996, now i have the stock audio system running normally -WITH- a 300W RMS Blaupunkt amp powering an 8inch sub and two 3way 150Watts speakers, greeeeeat sound!
I guess the best solution to the MP3 player is to go wireless. I really want to explore the possibility of buying a Creative Nomad (or an IPOD but i dont have a MAC) that will be hooked thru a stereo jack to a 12volt wireless FM broadcast which the stock head will play thru FM tuner.. I think it is the least cumbersome after doing my amp setup..
I know that this wireless solution exists, but i dont know where!
Ok, i know there are other MP3 solutions like having to assemble a complete MP3 removable set to the audio system, but again where I live i dont have too much flexibility..

Wireless does not work very well in the US. Forget about the USD 25 ones, but even USD 100 transmitters give a few minutes of interference free sound at best. Any time you are close to powerlines, strong transmitters etc you lose all quality. Every so many miles there will be a station on a frequency that was quiet when you started.
Prepare to change frequencies a lot, which is a pain.
I have seen reports on other forums of people that have installed a transmitter into the radio antenna system. I don't know if this can be done with a Porsche though

I love mine. Nothing like a hard run w/Tool providing some audio adrenaline.
See Dan996TT's post above - you can buy the AUX-in kit from Becker for about $20 U.S., but only if you don't have the CD changer.
I have the iRock as well, an FM wireless system, as I have the CD changer. The sound is not good at all. I only use it for really, really, long trips - when the CDs start to get stale.
OK Rob/Dan
Now i understand what you mean. But i have a question for you please,
Assuming the new cable provides stereo-input from and ipod or similar auxillary.. How will the stock-head change source from FM/Built-in-cd-player/auxillary...
Might be dumb question, but just wanted to know!

Just reveived '03 C4S and plan to add input for iPod. I have the PCM2 option with in-dash CD only. I hope there's an easy solution. I'll post and update.

I've talked with several dealers and am told there is no option to add an input to the PCM2 system. Is this really true? If so, I guess I'll have to try an FM transmitter. Anybody know which one works best?
Thanks,
