Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would still recommend having a professional do the install.

I believe the windshield has the antenna running through it, so that's something to be aware of.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I parked the car on Saturday evening without really noticing anything..
Just now i wanted to park it in the garage, found out that my front windscreen is broken from the right lower side. Seems the crack started somewhere on the side at the edge under the rubber seal and expanded, so far, up to about 40cm. One long curvy track.
I am suspecting the heat or a stone that started it during my saturday cruise..
Please anybody know any info on the price of the windscreen (weight also since i have to ship it in by air) and any special method to remove/replace old/new ones...
Thanks,
Wael
I believe the windshield has the antenna running through it, so that's something to be aware of. From reading other posts on the subject it looks like it costs about $600 U.S. For install instructions, Loren is probably your man.
Good Luck
Well, insurance doesnt cover it coz it wasnt due to an accident or third party.. They can call it ageing or factory defect..
Anyway, tx for info and advice..
Wael
There are 4 part numbers depending on the windscreen and options you have on your MY 99 RoW car. You will need to choose the one that is like what you currently have. They are:
996 541 901 00 -- Tinted only
996 541 901 02 -- Tinted and M265 (anti dazzle mirror and rain sensor)
or
996 541 901 01 -- Upper part dark green
996 541 901 03 -- Upper part dark green and M265 (anti dazzle mirror and rain sensor)
I'll email you a PDF of the removal and installation. The adhesive on the new windscreen will need 3 hours to cure before driving.
Thank you for quick reply Loren,
It seems i have the one with the upper dark green and no rain sensor (coz my wipers are normally activated).
Does the bonding kit along with the windscreen?
Wael
Surely it will be done by a professional. I called him yesterday and he was assuring me that he's done hundreds of windshields for many cars similar and newer than mine..
It's just that i want him to follow the procedure while he's at it.. This is going to take quite some time before i am able to get the new screen shipped in, am looking at my source options.
Wael
Waz it will cost you US$ 500.00 from Dubai with the seal frame, the trim frame and the sealant bond. The dealer will reply tomorrow if available in stock, meanwhile it's showing available in the system but just in case.
The seal frame i guess is the rubber frame, the trim frame i guess is the outer part and the sealant bond you know.
Weight is a max. of 22Kg.

OK Fadzy,
Considering $4 shipment per kilo (for regular cargo, not dhl), that'll make a total of about $600.. The thing is do you think it'll arrive safe and sound?
I'm also checking my friends here who might *with a lot of doubt* get me the screen from France along with their regular consignments by sea freight (inside containers).. It'll be safer and cheaper i guess.. Lemme get back to you soon.. Meanwhile I've sent you mail.
