This is not a probability of success.

While I had the front off of the 996 to do a thorough cleaning of the radiators, I decided to take a look at the emergency manual frunk release cable in order to better understand the location of parts and how it worked in case I needed it in the future.

Is This Emergency Manual Frunk Release Cable Routing Correct?

Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While I had the front off of the 996 to do a thorough cleaning of the radiators, I decided to take a look at the emergency manual frunk release cable in order to better understand the location of parts and how it worked in case I needed it in the future. I was really surprised to see how the cable is routed. Please see the picture below. The way it is routed through the gap in the plastic piece "grabs" the cable to the point it seems like it would be hard to pull. My only guess for routing it that way was to keep it in place and from bouncing around which might cause noise. Is this the normal routing? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

That doesn't look right. It does not go there. Simply route the cable to just inside the tow hook button. Pop the button out and there it is.

Yes, but... rerouting that cable aggressively can result in the release not working correctly (which of course will be at the least convenient time possible). If you reroute it, make sure to test it.

POST 4Original post

Re-route it to the RH radiator air inlet. It makes for a straight pull and easy accessibility. The cable end will rest at the top of inlet shroud, invisible unless you stand on your head.

Did the same thing to both cars and works great, not visible unless laying on the ground.

>>Re-route it to the RH radiator air inlet. Wellll, nowww you tell me after I have the whole front end put back together.
