You can get paddock passes (recommended) which will let you wander through the garage area and get close to the pit area.

I'm giving some thought to going to the Rolex Daytona in Feb. Just wondered if anyone had attended the event and had any advice on where to try for seating or special passes to purchase? Thanks for the help!

Check here if you haven't already : <a href="http://www.grand-am.com" target="_blank">www.grand-am.com</a> You can get paddock passes (recommended) which will let you wander through the garage area and get close to the pit area. Other than that it is general admission and you can wander almost anywhere. Through the night I would change locations from Turn one to the Horseshoe, etc. Be prepared with good ear protection. If you want to know what is going on in the race bring a radio. Also be prepared for 30 degree temps as well as rain. I have been there during both. It truely is a test of endurance, even for the fans.

Been there done that 5 or 6 times. Take warm clothes (layering, in case it is warm during the day), umbrella or some major rain protection, ear plugs, and most importantly, comfortable shoes. Next time, I will see how I can sneak in a motorized scooter or something. General passes are OK, but paddock are better for little extra money. Always a nice large Porsche corral, so check with local Porsche clubs for specials. It does get old after a while and if you are really into what is going on the race, Speed channel has the best coverage <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />
