Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In fact, I read that the Swedish Safety Engineers at Volvo recommend they not be forward facing until 3 years old.

I need to get a new car seat for him to replace his infant seat.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It worked ok rear facing, but the passenger seat had to be pushed forward and my wife was crowded.
My son is about 12 weeks old and weights about 20 lbs. I need to get a new car seat for him to replace his infant seat. I would like to get a seat that could fit in the rear seat of my 2002 996. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

12 weeks or 12 months? If 12 months look at the Century NextStep line. It fits in the rear seat of an 02 C2. I ended up having to do some creative routing of the seat belt to get it to sit straight and tight.
My son is 12 weeks old (3 months) and he grew so fast that the infant is no longer big enough for him.
How much will the Porsche child seat go for?
Thanks
My 5 year old can sit in the rear of my cab just as she did in the back of my 928, sans car seat, as they seem to build for someone just her size (she is taller than normal). Seat belt is across her chest as it should, not on her neck.
my 2 year old will need some sort of boost to get the seatbelt off of his neck. He is 32 lbs and 39 inches, so I have to find some sort of suitable seat, am thinking just something under the butt to give him a boost, as I thing the rest of the seat fits pretty snug. Granted, I dont want to take any chances with their safety.

I went to babies r us, picked out the smallest, narrowist child seat and tried it...
seemed to work fine. Most seats are too wide to fit in the back well.
I have the Porsche child seat that is convertible..it goes from rear facing to forward facing as your child grows. It worked ok rear facing, but the passenger seat had to be pushed forward and my wife was crowded. It works much better now that he's over a year old and we can put it forward facing.
Children should not be forward facing until they are at least one year old. It's a question of neck muscles that are not fully developed and disproprtionately large head size when they are younger. In fact, I read that the Swedish Safety Engineers at Volvo recommend they not be forward facing until 3 years old. Unfortunately there aren't any rearward facing seats in this country that accomodate children that large.
Whichever one you choose, make sure it's installed correctly. The proper technique is to kneel in the child seat and fasten the safety belts as tight as they will hold the seat. Make sure you extend the seat belt all the way before retracting it. This puts it in automatic locking mode. Even the best seat can't protect the child if it's flopping around. There shouldn't be more than 1/2 inch of play side to side.
