Okay, I'm looking at two 2001 Cabs. One has 6000K miles and the other 12,000k. The 12K mile car is a C4. Both cost about the same. I'd love to have a C4, but I'd also love to have a car w/only 6K miles...
Any advise? Take the miles or the AWD?
Ahh, I love tough decisions like this!
Thanks!
Knowing a little bit about the Lake Sam. area (I used to live in Bellevue) and considering the wet roads. hills, etc. I would opt for the C4. In the overall scheme of things, (assuming both cars had equally good care/records, etc.) I don't think 6K miles are that important.
Ever raced up Mt. Ranier on the road to "Paradise?"
I agree with Don - although I'm not personally a fan of AWD - if you are, don't let 6k miles scare you off. These cars should be good for well over 150k, so 6k is pretty negligible in the grand scheme of things.
Don moved from Bellevue to Cape Cod, how so very Odd.
If the price is roughly equal then by all means buy the C4.
But remember, here in this area the top will be up most of the time and you will then be left driving a really butt ugly car.
Proud owner of a 2001 C4 coupe on this side.
Don,
have you driven the run from Yakima down by Mt Adams to the Columbia? Unforgettable.
I left Seattle in 97 and my wonderful 77911S at Park Place Ltd in Bellevue
Maybe we've "talked" before. I owned Griffin Envelope on E.Marginal Way just south of Boeing's old HQ bldg...and right next to the WA State Liquor Commission bldg. We sold in 97 and moved back to NE and the Cape where our family all is..otherwise we would have stayed right in Bellevue. Lived on 169th St SE on the West side of the Lake. Had a a great view. Absolutely loved the area. Did the Mt. Baker route and theres a route 202 around there that was a lot of fun. There were so many places to open it up out there. I remember driving back on I90 from Idaho coming into Washington over the mountains...spectacular. BTW, did you know that I90 begins at Fenway Park in Boston and ends at Safeto Fiele in Seattle...straight shot 3335 miles.
Nothing wrong with this look JT:
Same car, different mods and different lighting.
Get the C4 Cab, you'll not regret it!
We have an 02 C4 now and love the AWD..and regarding the looks of the car, if you have the h'top (hopefuly), it takes 10 minutes for 2 people to attach or detach. We put it on for the winter out here as you probably would.
And Willwest...there's nothing wrong with the look of the Cab
. soft top up, down or h'top up!
Beautiful Car Don!
I agree that the Cab doesn't look bad with top up. And it looks even better with the hardtop. I have a hardtop for the Boxster and it's a great way to go in the winter. When both tops are on I like the look of the coupe better, but after having a Boxster, I don't think I could get used to not being able to go topless on nice days...
Unfortunately, the one I'm looking at doesn't have a hardtop. Anyone know how much one costs aftermarket for a 2001?
Thanks!
Oh, and I almost forgot. I have done the ride up to Paradise. Amazing drive. One of these days I'd like to do Cascade loop in a P-car I've only done it in less fun cars.
I spend a lot of time at Safeco (unfortunatly not quite enough time in October this year) but I've only been to Boston once and didn't get to see a game. Someday!
Go w/the C4 for out here (you never mentioned color or other options) - having lived in Minneapolis, I disagree w/the statement that you'll have the top up most of the time. I still haven't put my hardtop on, from the forecast Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday all look like top down days. My favorite drive - Highway 20 to Winthrop or the Sea to Sky highway up to Whistler.

Howdy,
I would get the car you like the best. I would not worry about the mileage or the 4 vs. 2. I used to live in Portland and in Seattle (Lake Union) and drove a 911 daily. Either would be a great car.
On the tops, you can pick one up for $1K to $2K at most southern dealers. I bought the one for my last car at Brumos Porsche and paid $1500. A lot of their customers buy the car and don't want the top (Florida).
Good luck.
Roy
Hi all;
I just wanted to bring this thread around full circle by telling you what I decided to do.
I ended up getting a different car than the two I mentioned.
Couple of factors. Instead of the 2001 Cab w/AWD and 12K miles or the 2001 Cab w/6K miles I got a 2001 Cab w/8K miles. No AWD. But it does have a color that I like better and it includes a hardtop and a couple of other options I wanted like heated seats and the comfort and technik packages.
The first two Cabs I was considering were both Lapis Blue with the Tan interior. I like that color a lot, in fact it's the color of my current Boxster. So, I thought it would be nice to do something a little different this time. So I got a Lapis Blue with the Grey interior.
Also, the first two Cabs started to look too good. Titles were both clean, but were from Louisiana, which I've heard is one of the easiest states to get titles cleaned up in... (probably just me being paranoid, but it felt good to find another Cab I liked better anyway)
I'm jazzed about it! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
Here is the picture. (if I did this correctly)
Thanks for the advise all! <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />
