Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you recall I too had a tranny replaced from new and though it seems to be fine now, I would love to trade up to a Turbo as I'm dissappointed with C4s power...

Would any of you take some dealer demo/not perfectly new but not "used"??
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Many of you know about my car already having the transmission replaced once. Now of course it has the bad sleeves and needs replaced again.
My service guy and I were talking about getting me out of my car. He called Atlanta and talked with those folks who said they would "make me a sweet deal on a turbo."
Service guy called yesterday to say they have a list of turbos on the ground with the options, details, etc and PCNA is calling me Monday to talk.
I ask you all....what should I accept as a "sweet deal"? Dealer invoice? A bit below MSRP?
Keep in mind I don't have much bargaining power, after all Texas lemon law is 3 major repairs and I am only at 2.
Thanks.
Try for below invoice.

Not "only" at two, but ALREADY at two. Point that out to 'em.
I just picked up on your thread, however from what it sounds like...you are in the "drivers" seat (so to speak). In TX what is the time frame for the 3 major repairs? 1 year? During warranty? This is important, as it may be a major bargaining point. If it is in one year, and you are close to that time, you are in less of a bargaining position. If it is during warranty, and you have a lot of time left, better for you.
If you are familiar with any negotiation tactics, ask for the outrageous low price. If they don't wince, then it's no big deal for them. Also, you will only go up....and if you ask too high initially, you have already given up much of your bargaining power. Other tactics are also useful...such as sending a letter to your personal attorney, outlining the two strikes, and letting them know you will be watching for the third. Also find out (not from Porsche or the dealer) what would constitute a third "strike". The smaller the better. Point that out to the dealer, once you know, especially if it is small. If you copy the dealer, they know you are playing for keeps. It also establishes the time frame, should that be an issue. You can also copy Porsche USA...they may go over the dealers head and cut you an even better deal. If you are a repeat Porsche customer....make sure that it is in the letter and how much your business is worth, including word of mouth. They should want to keep you happy.
Other possibilities would include such tactics as not asking for a new auto (should that be the case) but an extended warranty for an additional 2-3 years to cover additional major repairs. Would that be sufficient to make you happy? You could then keep the car for a longer period and dump it before it goes out of warranty.
In summary, don't sell yourself short. You really are in a better position than they are. Make sure they know how much influence you may have with other potential Porsche purchasers if you are unhappy. Remember... if they don't REALLY complain and wince, then they are not really giving you much of anything than they would have given anyway.
Hope this pep talk helps.
Steve
Steve R, actually when my first tranny went bad I wrote PCNA and asked for a warranty extension but they said no. I also told them I would influence my collegues against Porsche should the car continue to have problems....they did not even comment on that point. Their letter stated that another major component failure was "highly unlikely"
HA!
I never outright asked for a new car in my letters to PCNA but only that they "stand behind" mine. The reply was if I had further mechanical issues to see the dealer.
Seems I should ask for very low price.
Would any of you take some dealer demo/not perfectly new but not "used"??
Another new tranny? What happened? If you recall I too had a tranny replaced from new and though it seems to be fine now, I would love to trade up to a Turbo as I'm dissappointed with C4s power...
Good luck on your negotiations...
Does Porsche want to give you a sweet deal on a '02 or '03? It doesn't seem like they made it clear what year they were offering. With the depreciation people have talked about on 996s, if they offer you an '02, then I would say below invoice, otherwise a little bit over invoice should be doable.
Just my 2 cents.
Neil
Hi Urbanski: Also just picked up on your thread. My only .02 is to know who you are negotiating with (obviously you do), and how much authority they have. Sometimes you can go around in circles with someone only to find out thaty do NOT have the authority to authorize.
Another tactic would be to work your way up the ladder of authority (if there is one).
Your other advice is right on!
Good luck. Hope the Turbo works out for you if that's what you would really like..
I don't know what they are offering yet
Waiting on a call.
Yeah, I've kept tabs on TTs on e-bay, seeing what the 02's are going for, so having done my research I'll be able to tell if the deal is truly sweet or bull****.
I will post as soon as they call me....
and thanks for the tips you all
When a BMW dealer dropped my 15,000 mile 850 off the rack, I got a new 850 CSI at true dealer cost (20,000 below sticker) and every penny back that I paid for my original 850. I had the leverage points of their error and I wouldn't return the BMW loaner until we had a deal.
If the dealer will start the negotiation process, I'd get a loaner first. Then negotiate the buy back of your used car, then negotiate the buy price of the new car. No one should make any profit on your second purchase. By the way, BMW of America paid the transport and prep costs of the new 850CSI they located for me. Good luck, and let us know. AS
Well, got a call from the dealer today....
actually nobody has done any work at all on my case....no "list" of TTs, no offers....
The salesperson said he'll work on the list today
Said Porsche would only offer me a new 02 or 03 TT, not any sort of used or demo.
From the way he talked, reading between the lines, I got the gut feeling they are going to offer me a TT at MSRP or just below, not actually anything "sweet". Regular financing too....
I'll update when I get more info guys.

That doesn't sound like a peace offering at all!! Just another car sale. Maybe they'll make up for it with the buy back on the old car?

Shopping on E-bay for a used C4S, one can be had for low-70's. That's at least 10K below what I owe right now....if Porsche buys my car back well I'm 10 grand ahead at least....
