Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
BTW if you appretiate handling don't forget to upgrade the suspensions to the Euro-M030's and change the stock 17" & Conti's with 18" & S03's, thats a must, and makes a bigger difference than C2 vs C4
Leading evidence: 'Replace stock 17" & conti's' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace stock 17" & conti's' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I wouldn't take the skipad test too seriously, it just measures the grip on a constant velocity and constant radious circle.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What are the difference between a 99-01 c2 v. a c4? I know the c4s is basically a turbo without the turbos, and intakes, but is the 4wheel drive the same as the c4s on the c4? Are the rims the size of the turbo's? Does the c4 pull a higer skidpad than the c2? I would like to know if it pulls a higher skidpad most, as that would be the main reason for the decision. thanks.

4WD, PSM, electronic gas pedal input, smaller trunk, diff color brakes and logo on wheels and engine lid., and about 50Kg heavier.

Yes it is, but track width and suspensions aren't.

Yes, the C4S has the same 8x18" and 11x18" wheels(the C4 has 17").

Yes it does. Everytime Ive seen the skipad results compared between C2 and C4, the C4 pulls a higher values. And if you add on 18" rims even better results
Now, one question, why is the skipad results so important to you to even base your decisionon them? just curious

Don't forget the brakes. The C4S has the turbo brakes, the C4 doesn't.
Well, handling is important to me. I have found many c2's and c4's and if the c4 handles better, even if marginally then I am more apt. to go for it. thanks for such a thourough breakdown in the differences!

The 2001 C2 does have PSM and electronic gas pedal input.
All the 996's after the 99 model year have the e-gas. That is what they attribute the 4hp gain to. Also the C4s has the same size wheels as the turbo, but the last I heard they are not the hollow spoke versions (same pattern, heavier weight).
Also I have heard that the standard C4 will lend itself to understeer a bit more than the C2. The C4s seems to be a different story due to its wider track and turbo based suspension. I would not worry to much about skid pad numbers... not like you are going to be pulling 1.04g on your drive through town. Handling is more than a skid pad number... I remember years ago reading that there was a diesel powered VW Golf that would pull a higher skidpad number than a Porsche 911, which do you think handled better? <img src="graemlins/oops.gif" border="0" alt="[oops]" />
I hear you, but I am a professionally trained driver, and I frequently drive my cars in the canyons at speed, so it is relevant, and I am able to push the car to the limit and appreciate very minute and suttle differences as such. That is why it is so important, but I hear you about the daily driving scenario. thanks.

Why don't you test drive both down that canyon? I certainly would appreciate the opinion of a professionally trained driver. You would probably be the best person to answer your own question. Let us know what you think.
I wouldn't take the skipad test too seriously, it just measures the grip on a constant velocity and constant radious circle.
Handling includes grip thru curves with engine deceleration, brake deceleration, aceleration, varying steering input, diferent radius curves or double curves, varying surface conditions, etc.
So a better measurement would be which car is faster thru the tight turns of the north loop of Nurburgring driven by a non-profesional driver.
We are talking about marginal differebces but the bottom line is: while the C2 may be able to be faster in a circuit under a profesional driver due to the 50Kg less weight and tossier RWD, the C4 is easier and safer to drive at the limit which makes it faster outside the track in a mountain road, unless yor Walter Rohl
Both handle great but I think the main difference is that the C4 is a little safer and more forgiving at the limit driving outside the track, allowing you to push it harder and therefore faster (not to mention when the road surface is slippery which is frequent in the streets; rain, gravel, paint, poor asfalt, etc)
BTW if you appretiate handling don't forget to upgrade the suspensions to the Euro-M030's and change the stock 17" & Conti's with 18" & S03's, thats a must, and makes a bigger difference than C2 vs C4
BTW ths C4S doesn't have the US-M030 suspensions (10mm lower), it has the turbo's suspensions (10mm lower also).
