Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Test driving a c4s' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test driving a c4s' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am test driving a C4S on Saturday. The waiting list here in UK is 20 months!! I would be gratefull to here owners views on what I think is the best non turbo 996 model currently produced.
I bought a new M3 in July this year and sold it 7 weeks later and currently have a new C320 Merc
Welcome to the board.
Wanna know my opinion on the C4S?

Now that that's done, search the archives, key word C4S. Lots of opinions, mostly accolades.
I have a '99 C4 - and it absolutely rocks. The C4S is an improved (both in terms of styling, performance and sound) version of the C4 (actually in a turbo body). If you don't want to spend for the incremental $ for a turbo - get the C4S - you won't be dissapointed. IMO, there is no comparison between the ride in a 911 and that of an M3. The latter is indeed a great sports coupe (and if you need a true rear seat for someone other than a small child, a bona fide alternative to a 911), but it just does not provide the same "feel the road" drive as the 911 and frankly its not much to look at (certainly relatively speaking).
The C4S is simply one of the most awesome sports cars I have ever owned. A delight to drive and a pleasure to own. The grin factor of this car is enough to make even my sour demeanor crack!
Thanks for your thoughts - sounds like the way to go - whats the waiting list times where you are? And what are in your opinions the "essential" optional extras
The waiting list times around here are very short in my experience, because if you are willing to look and ask around, you can find one. If you can't find one with an options set that you like, then the wait would be around 6 months as far as I can tell.
I was on a waiting list for one and the dealer pushed my delivery back, so I decided to look around for one. A tip from a board member to call Jim Ellis Porsche in Atlanta, Georgia, yielded me a C4S of my liking in about a week! It has the sport exhaust, sport seats, Xenons, Bose sound, rear wiper, and the alum/chrome package. I got about a $5k discount as well, all I did was ask.
I don't know if there are any essential options for the C4S. It comes very well equipped in standard form. The rain sensing wipers are nice. The sport exhaust is awesome too. But they are not required to enjoy the car to it's fullest.
Cheers,
Ken
I had my car at the Dealer for the yearly service yesterday and had a chance to compare my 996 C2 and a new C4s side by side. The C4S looks great, but next to my RoW equipped C2 it also looked high and heavy- sorry, but that is my opinion
. I'm sure it drives nice as is and would be even better with a hp upgrade from the std '02 996.
If by "heavy" you are referring to the wide hips of the car--yes, it is-Thank you!! The extra width is fantastic and although I'm sure you enjoy your C2, the C4S has incredible handling---Sometimes looks can be deceiving.
In terms of options, I got the supple leather, Porsche headrest, Advanced Technic (lights/stereo), Advanced Design Package (addtl. leather everywhere with stitching, as well as aluminum accents) and Porsche floor mats. I'm sorry I didn't get the rain sensor wipors and autodim rearview mirror. No big! Best of luck with your new C4S!
