Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have read that Porsche issued a TB or an advisory notice recommending that 996 Cabriolet owners avoid fitting 18" wheels as the larger wheels appear to be causing windshield cracks. Myth or fact? FYI-my '99 996 owners manual lists 18" wheels as an OEM option. relinuca

POST 2Original post

My 03 996 came with 18" wheels from the factory I have owned it for 3 years without an issues with the windshield.

POST 3Original post

Never heard of such a thing - my '02 C4 cab came w/ 18" wheels and no issues so far...

POST 4Original post

This could have been the very first of the first year, first gen. I know this was true of the '97-'98 Boxsters due to too much chassis flex.

POST 6Original post

I think you may have confused Porsche 996 with the "new" Mini coopers. http://classaction.kccllc.net/CaseIn...dshieldActions

POST 7Original post

I have to wear a mouth guard ever since I switched over to 19s and GT3 coilovers.

POST 8Original post

'03 C4 cab with 18" Sport Designs and ROW M030 suspension for 6 years and 40K miles of year round driving. I WISH my windshield would crack. It's all pitted and I want a new one

POST 9Original post

My 13 year old C2 Cab came from the factory with 18 inch wheels. <Sarcasm>Amazingly, I'm still on the original window, though I've debated replacing it with the ceramic-coated version...you know...just to be safe.</Sarcasm>.
