Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Changed inner and outer tie rods for around $700 and the car drives new again
Leading evidence: 'Replace inner and outer tie rods' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is '2 hours / 4 beer job' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair creaking issue' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Now that our move is finally finished, I had a chance to get the C4S into the shop for a diagnosis and repair for the creaking issue.

It gets replaced tomorrow AM, and that should hold me for a while.

Actually did front right corner this past weekend, really easy to do with the right tools (ball joint separator and L shaped torx bits set with a T40 from amazon).

My car started doing this at the rear driver side a couple of month after buying it, some suggests it's the lower control arm(s) but I hate to get a part before knowing for certain that is the part causing the noise as there are a couple more control arms plus the bushings, I've tried to use silicon spray to isolate the exact point/source of noise, no luck so far........
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My C4S has begun to creak and groan when going over speed bumps. It wasn't too bad, but for some reason it really kicked up a notch today. It is now doing it when I drive on a rough road or even over undulations in the road surface.
I think it's time for some new bushings...
My car sounded like an old ship up front Dennis. I found out the passenger front strut mount was bad during suspension change over. I new mount cured all the creaking.
My strut mounts were changed last year. I suspect this is another bushing or two.
On the bright side (I think...), my wife is saying things like: "this car is getting too old and too expensive. You need to sell it and buy a new one!"
Do you think it's the bushings or the control arm? I've already been looking at 997.2s online! I've actually found some 991s with less than 10K miles that might fit the bill too. We're in the middle of a move right now though, so if I decide to purchase another Porsche, it will probably be in ~6 months. I'm just in the looking stage now. I haven't even decided what I would get if I decided to buy one. Cab or coupe? Another 4S? Not sure yet...
I wouldn't be surprised if I just get the C4S fixed and keep it either. I really just got it the way I want it, and it sure is nice not having a monthly car payment!
We'll see...
We're only moving a couple of miles up the road. I'm still with DePuy. It's all good! Our new house is in a maintenance-free, gated neighborhood. The HOA does all the lawn maintenance and all the snow removal, including our driveway. It will be great because I travel frequently and both boys will be out of the house in college this fall.
Now that our move is finally finished, I had a chance to get the C4S into the shop for a diagnosis and repair for the creaking issue. The diagnosis is that I've got a bad lower control arm ball joint on the passenger's side. Fortunately there wasn't any play in the joint, it's just loud (and getting louder). It gets replaced tomorrow AM, and that should hold me for a while.
No doubt!
After a while though, you have to weigh the annual cost of maintenance against the cost of a payment + lower maintenance. I'm never a fan of debt, but there will come a time when I make the jump...
