He used an air bladder to make a hole between front and rear window, inserted a long rod with a hook on the end, and pulled the door handle.

I was able to get a AAA service person out and convince him to try...he was able to squeeze some sort of rod like tool between window and catch inside door handle and double pull on handle...Door opened, alarm sounded and I put key in ignition and it reset itself.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi!
As most know after 5 days the keyless entry shuts down (to save battery) and you need to use the key to get in.
Well the dealer I bought the car from had a new ignition cylinder and key installed but they forgot to re-key the door lock. So I can't open the door
How do I get in?
99 996 cab with hardtop on
Thanks!!!
Brian
Repo?
Not sure if this will work. Shake the car to set off the alarm then try using the remote to shut it off. That might get them talking again.
Doesn't the car wake up if you raise the door handle even if it is locked?
It will certainly get the neighbors talking if you do it ~ midnight.
Just spoke with dealer. They ordered replacement keys for the car when ignition cylinder was replaced in march, but they did not fit. Dealer said locks had probably been changed out.
Dealer suggested having locksmith re-key door lock.
They also suggested having a locksmith open the car
I'll Call aaa when I get home and see what they can do
Brian
Well I'll be gosh darned. I stand corrected as I just looked this up in my manual. I can't tell you how many times my Porsche has been locked in my garage (I understood that helps prevent battery drain) while I have been on extended vacations (certainly more than 5 days). Everytime I come home, the car unlocks with the remote just like normal.
That is one fix my Indy will not be making!
Call AAA and tell them your situation. Someone will come out and inflate an air bladder and create enough of a gap at the window to reach in with a special tool and pull the door handle and the door will open.
The same thing happened to my '99 996 Cab last year. I finally called AAA and you're riight, they dont like to work on our cars. I was able to get a AAA service person out and convince him to try...he was able to squeeze some sort of rod like tool between window and catch inside door handle and double pull on handle...Door opened, alarm sounded and I put key in ignition and it reset itself. Collateral damage ....only scaped a little window tint. Worth the risk. GL.
Aaa sent a locksmith and he was able to get into the car. Took him less then 5 minutes. He used an air bladder to make a hole between front and rear window, inserted a long rod with a hook on the end, and pulled the door handle. Viola!
I'm back driving my porsche
Now I'm going to have the door lock re-keyed
Thanks for everyone's help!
Brian
Glad it worked out. I guess if the person doing it is careful enough, you could get lucky.
My case left me with a very minuscule gap between the window and seal, just barely enough to make some wind noise when going at highway speeds. YMMV...
