My favorite independent Porsche repair guy--who's located next to Road Atlanta and deals with a lot of tire issues--recommended I put on either Bridgestones or Michelins next time around.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got replacement rear Pirelli Assymetricos (on factory 18"s) at about 7500 miles and now at just shy of 12,000 miles, the fronts are going "off". I was happy with the Pirellis BUT now I'm wondering if I might not get S03's on the front or something which may have a bit more grip than the Pirellis. Anyone play around with this at all? Recommendations?

POST 2Original post

The hot set up currently seems to be the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. They are the favorite of a few club racers I know. Supposedly close to a Hoosier in grip and last much longer. Plus you can actually use them on the street and in the rain. Karl

POST 3Original post

Just don't mix your tyres. If you get SO3's on the front, do the rear as well.

POST 4Original post

I had the Michelin sport cup on my '17 wheels, they are very good. About the Bridgestone i advice you better the S02 N2 aproved by Porsche, they have a grip just great!. You can put if you want the S03 also. But replace the 4 tires.!

POST 5Original post

I recently went to the SO-3 for the street.... They hold in the turns very well, HOWEVER, they suck under brake....if you need to get on the binders expect them to break loose and get your ABS going!!! I never had that with the original Conti's (Not that I liked them either) but I really expected the SO-3 to hookup better than what I'm getting. I'll try the Mich's next time around. I suspect they work very well in the rain...but who really goes out an plays "hard" in the rain. I'd pass on the SO-3 if I knew what I know now! Good Luck...

The new Michelin Pilot Sport Rib is supposed to be their high performance dry tire...
