Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm a lazy fart so I take it to those automatic car wash thingies with the rollers. I have 285/30 rears now so is it a problem going on the rails. Sometimes even with the 265/35 tires car has to be nutched forward to move. If anyone like me go thru auto washers any problems with 285's? Pretty funny while car is running with water steam comes out like blew my radiator-lol. Regards. Mike

POST 2Original post

Mike, take a pic of your car as it comes out of the rollers. I saw one, and it made my skin crawl! I was pretty much told by the dealer that no way, no how was the C4S going to fit on those rails. Tires were too big, and the track width diff between front and rear was such that the car will more than likely get turned sideways and jump the track and get damaged. Said the same thing about a GR cab with 285 tires I was looking at before I ordered the C4S. For those days when I'm too lazy, I go to an "automatic touchless" car wash. There are no tracks for the tires, just a line on the floor where this gigantic sprayer goes all around the car. Only the water/soap/etc spray touches the car. Yep, steam comes out of the engine, and an occasional squeel from the wet fan belt. Decent results, not sparkling, but good enough for lazy days. Check around. There must be one near you.

POST 3Original post

You must be absolutely crazy, as well as lazy, to take your car into one of those roller washes.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah lazy is right. I use to remember back when with any new car be handwashing my car every week but now with car being 4 years old lost my urge to be refined : ). Yeah I thought so myself Palting-the 285's will not fit on the rails so its the brushless without rails I go to now which is good-just give them my wax and leather cleaner and voila- smooth as velvet-oops smooth as silk : ). Man I shoulda taken a pic of it when going thru the rails when I had the 265's on and post it on the board. Thanks all. See you at the showers!!! Regards. Mike

POST 5Original post

I have 285/30 and the Carrera 5 spokes. No problem at all. The place I go to has rubber guide along the rail. They do a lot of Porsches and they would put a driver in the car, to steer the car inside so the wheels don't touch the rail at all. I use hard wax every couple of months, and put it thru this car wash at least twice a month. I know this causes horror to many other fellow owners, but I must said my Artic Silver looks better than many Black and Lapis that had been hand washed all their lives.

POST 6Original post

If you're lazy, have it professionally hand-washed. Just because you're lazy doesn't mean you have to be abusive too...

POST 7Original post

Someone in my local has a beautiful C4s with custom painted rims to match the body. I have seen that car at the autowash a few times. I always want to stop to talk to the owner, to try to point out the error in his ways. Perhaps he will learn once his wheels get scratched up enough.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah why let the autowash thrash the rims when I can do that myself. Hate curbs : (. Regards. Mike
