Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hopefully someone knows where to start. On my 01 996TT the fuse blows as soon as you activate the turn signal. Have removed/disconnected lights and this still happens. All sockets, bulbs, etc look perfect. Upon locking the doors (which cuases the signal lights to flash) I also blow the turn signal fuse as well as the central locking, power window, interior light, etc fuse. All wiring, etc looks clean and 100% intact and unmodified.Any suggestions?? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I suggest, that you post pics of your TT.... you have a direct short.... a hot wire touching ground, I would start with the turn signal stalk and trace that to the main harness. If no wire is touching metal (look for scored wire insulation) then proceed to the door wiring harnesses and trace those wires..... again, you have a wire that seems to be shorting out to ground.

POST 3Original post

sounds like a clock ring issue, though I have not fully read all the problems clock rings can create, it is a part that is known to fail...if its not that then you have to start tracing wire by wire till you find the "bad one"

POST 4Original post

Could be that the turn signal socket has bad contact with the bulb base. Check the bent metal contact at the bottom of the bulb. This happened to me also when the metal tab at the base of the socket was snap when I pushed the bulb in to install. I was confronted with buying a new rear turn signal harness but found another solution. If there is enough metal contact still attached to the bottom of the socket you can bend it (gently) to create a new contact point for the bulb base.
